I’m not coronating anyone. Besides, we do not have monarchs in this country. The American people still decide the outcome. Who are you supporting at this early outset?

Favorite Sarah Line last night was in the previews for next week with her daughter firing a shotgun, “Don't retreat, reload!” (Anti-gun heads exploding)

It's not the Iditarod that Todd runs, it's the Irondog

Yep. I remembered that after I posted. Too bad we can't edit our own posts here.

Every fish plant I have ever seen had mostly women on the line.

“You don’t have to ACT like a man to be taken seriously, Sarah.”

Wow that's quite a statement. So what narrowly defined role for women would you approve of?

Spend some time on an Iowa farm sometime. Or many other places where women do “icky” things because they like (and want) doing those things.

Yes! I posted that as my status on Facebook last night. It’s a great line.

"You know that gate isn't just for Trig. It's for boys too." LOL!

Yeah. You noticed that that punk held Willow's mom in such low regard that he jumped the fence the minute her back was turned.

Little turd.

Haha!

Last time I called my mom, she had been out working the backhoe somewhere on their 57 acres of Indiana farmland. She and I have both driven a tractor (I drove one before I drove a car, LOL), and done more than our share of mucking out stalls, chasing cattle and other livestock, and stringing up fenceline. Granted, I haven’t done it in years, but I’ve done it!

After chasing cows through mud in 90+ degree heat in August after they’ve broken the fence again, I had no issue with them going to slaughter, no matter how cute they were as calves ;)

I don't believe that is an accurate quote...

You know, I’m just not convicned that other Moms will view cutting off fish heads and gutting them on a table as the same as baking cookies. Palin has some issues to deal with. You don’t have to ACT like a man to be taken seriously, Sarah.

This may not be the dumbest post of the month, but it's got to be close.......

I'm nominating it. Do we have a second?

As she says to Bristol after she misses the target. “ don't retreat, JUST RELOAD”.

That was the BEST! Is it any wonder America has fallen in love with her.

Gutting a 25 pound turkey is no picnic, but I have done that also....raised it from a day old and better than what you pick up in those bags in the store, and not soaked to water to add weight and pumped up with anti-biotics which is necessary when you have a couple hundred or more in one barn.

My grandpa would step off the back porch and shoot a wild turkey. My granny and I (you know, us uncivilized women-folk) would clean and dress it for the pot. Pulling out the intestines and such might not be pleasant but oooh, feathers stink in a hot steamy kitchen! Unlaid eggs still inside went into the giblet gravy. No other way around it, that's just how it gets to the table.

Here's one for nmh. When my Lil Miss was younger, she went on a field trip to a butcher shop where they learned how sausage was made. She grabbed some "natural" casings, blew them up and made balloon animals.

Same here. We had cattle and chickens. They’re both cute when little but are mighty tasty on a plate. It wasn’t until after I was grown and on my own that I had to buy meat from the grocery store. The first few times, I have to admit, were a little odd feeling.

We just bein dumb womem folk..not good for anything except baking cookies...Nothing much smells worse than getting those feathers off the bird...yuk your right on that one.

When I was young you got your fowl at the poultry shop...My brother worked there. You looked your chicken, turkey, duck or rabbit in the eye, they were still alive, in cages and my brother as a teen was the one that killed and dressed it and you came back a couple of hours later to pick up your bird/rabbit all dressed and ready to cook...

There was no big supermarkets and that was in the 4th largest city in the country...Detroit during the 1930's and 40's....

I have to laugh at how silly some folks think about life...and we all know that when we settled this country, only men went west in covered wagons, the women were home baking cookies in the hearth. No electricity, no indoor plumbing, no central heating, no AC. Life was real not something we saw on TV. LOL

Our meat chickens were professionally done, but the turkeys we did, the guy that killed for us was an old guy and said turkeys were too big for him to handle anymore..he was semi-retired and in his 80's....farmers, men and women are a hardy lot aren't they...:O)
