CHARLESTON, SC (Reuters) - The Tea Party movement is just the "tip of the iceberg" of political change and a looming "war in Washington," South Carolina's conservative Republican Senator Jim DeMint said on Thursday.

"Tea Party candidates were the energy behind all of the Republican victories," said DeMint, a kingmaker behind the loosely organized network of conservatives and libertarians that helped Republicans capture the U.S. House of Representatives in last week's midterm elections.

"I think what we're seeing is the tip of the iceberg of a new wave of citizen activism that I think will realign politics," DeMint told Reuters in a telephone interview.

Good. Have the “war” now. There may be no “later”.

DeMint in 2012. I agree. I like Palin but I think DeMint is better at winning public arguments and debates.

Change “think” in his last quote above to “know” and it will be far more accurate.

McConnell and Inhofe are not up for the 2102 cycle so maybe that is the reason they are being tasked to float the earmark issue. The pushback from the Tea Party groups is already huge as these brats in DC will find out soon enough. The spat between the Tea Party Patriots and the Clairmont Center is just the beginning and DeMint is hearing the public with an astounding clarity.

I predict Marco Rubio will make his presence very quickly and will not be subject to the establishment seductive techniques because he was one of the first to be subjected to its dark side during our primaries.

The media are spinning like a top trying to blame the Tea Party for Republican losses.

DeMint knows better—and wisdom is an excellent qualification for a nominee in 2012.

The mere mention of his name terrifies the defenders of the status quo in DC. There is no snickering about DeMint. That is a clue.

Think of him as the anti-McCain candidate, as in _victory_this_time.

The way it works—the Democrats nominate someone who is supported with luke-warm enthusiasm by their base.

The Republicans nominate someone who is smarter than the Democrat, better in debates, aggressive on policy, and motivates the base to work and work and work.

The wishy-washy Independents read the media critique and are a little nervous. But in the end they know DC needs fixing and the Republicans have nominated someone with the courage and the intelligence to get it done.

They vote for DeMint.

Everyone is saying: “The Tea Party has no leader”. Could Jim DeMint emerge be that leader?

We must let the RINO Senators know: “If you are up for reelection in 2012, we will be watching you like a hawk for the next two years, chump.”

The action will be in the House. Screw the Senators. They will pay the Piper in 2012.

Do you think Sarah Palin would agree to taking the #2 spot again on a DeMint ticket?

I think the day will come when we will need more cohesiveness in the Tea Party Movement. With that, will come the necessity of a “face” to put on the movement as the leader; the focal point if you please.
