Amazing Interview: Air Force General says "Sub Launched Missile, 100% Certain"
Fox News Interview with Air Force General Tom McInerney | November 14th 2010 | Fox News Hannity Interview

Posted on 11/13/2010 2:55:59 PM PST by DontTreadOnMe2009

Hannity was surprised to hear a famous ex Air Force General tell him “That Is A Missile, Shot From A Submarine!” I quote retired Air Force Lieutenant General Tom McInerney (ex commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska) “I spent 35 years flying fighters, and you can see the guidance system kick in, I have watched that film 10 times, I am absolutely certain that that is not an aircraft, but a sub launch ICBM missile!!!” See the video and judge his words for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LivRJOWrcpA&feature=player_embedded#! Well, for one, I wouldn’t call it “dramatic” corkscrewing in the video — I’ve seen much more dramatic corkscrewing in other missile launches. I would also say that the object in your photo looks like an airliner leaving contrails.

You post about how even when you were in elementary school, you understood a simple optical illusion better than your friends, and still do to this day, better than all kinds of experts.

I don't accuse you of stupidity; clearly you are intelligent. Anyone on Free Republic is intelligent. No, I accuse you of arrogance.

Now, there are times when arrogance is at least understandable, though not particularly admirable. World-class competition swimmers come to mind: they are super athletes, and they know it, where as non-swimmers who think they're super athletes don't know it until they get in a pool and try to keep up with swimmers. It's a very humbling experience for the non-swimmers, and some swimmers tend to get arrogant about it, and it's easy to understand the source of their arrogance. One doesn't condone the arrogance, but one does understand why it's there.

I hope I am avoiding arrogance, and believe I am because unlike the pro-contrail folks here, I am not assuming gross incompetence and stupidity on the part of people who don't get that this was no commercial airliner. On the other hand, folks who insist it was an airliner can ONLY assume gross incompetence and stupidity on the part of some very, very qualified professionals. It is arrogance on display, and unlike the swimmers exampled, the folks exhibiting that arrogance really don't have much on which to base the high regard they have for their own conclusions.

By the way, do you have a five-word answer for the questions I put forth in that post?

For every “expert” you put up for your side, I believe I could put up ten for my side.

Well then please do so

I await the 40 top level experts; plz include a few 3 star Generals someone from Jane’s and one or two Under Sec of Defense.

Will make great reading.

Don’t forget now.

Actually, IF the pilot said he saw a similar plume in the same spot at the same time the day before, sure I'd believe him. I'd heard that the pilot or camerman had remarked on seeing something similar the night before. It's one of two reasons I think this was a US test launch. The other reason is because the video shows an object moving north-northwest, which means that it is moving away from the mainland if it was launched from the area of San Nicolas island.

And in fact, RM, looking again at that photo, though it is a still shot and still shots are generally useless for determining missile-plume-vs-contrail ID, I can safely say I would always and immediately indentify the object in that photo as an airplane. Its resemblance to a missile is first-glance superficial.

Thе KCBS helicopter cameraman whο captured thе footage οf thе “mystery missile” launch offered more details аbουt thе dramatic video hе shot Monday evening. Pentagon officials ѕаіd thеу continue tο look іntο whаt thеу hаνе called аn “unexplained contrail.” Each branch οf thе military hаѕ denied involvement. Cameraman Gil Leyvas shot video οf a luminous point hurtling through thе sky followed bу a long vapor trail. Hе ѕаіd hе wаѕ aboard thе television station’s helicopter shooting footage οf thе sunset over thе ocean аbουt 5:15 p.m whеn hе noticed thе spiral-shaped vapor trail аnd zoomed іn tο gеt a better look. Thе onboard camera ѕhοwеd a plume twisting up frοm thе horizon аnd narrowing аѕ іt climbed іntο thе sky near Catalina Island, аbουt 35 miles west οf Los Angeles, hе ѕаіd. “Whatever іt wаѕ, іt wаѕ spinning up іntο thе sky kind οf lіkе a spiral,” аnd wаѕ easy tο distinguish frοm condensation trails frοm jets, hе ѕаіd. “It wаѕ quite a sight tο see. Thanks! When this first happened, I found a news report where Leyvas was interviewed and described what he saw, and I think I even linked it in one of my posts. When I googled “gil leyvas interview” yesterday, I didn’t find anything except print media stories interpreting what he said. It’s just amazing to me how many people are so desperate to believe that this guy could be fooled into thinking an airliner contrail was a missile launch. Amazing, fascinating, and frightening.

e) FReepers with life-long experience watching live missile shots and who have spent decades, if not whole lifetimes, around the busy skies of the L.A. area and know contrails when the see them;

If the skies around LA are so busy, how come only 1 or 2 people in a helicopter reported a missile shot? IMHO this is the #1 reason to doubt the missile theory.

The fact that there are NO OTHER WITNESSES of the original event indicates that perhaps this did not look like a missile from other angles or to those who were able to watch it for a while.

Missile Over California: KCBS News Camera Man Says It Wasn’t a Jet

November 10, 2010

KCBS news photographer: Object was spiraling, spinning in a trajectory like a bullet or football
The mystery of the missile over California solved? According to various sources, the ‘missile’ was a jet contrail. Missing from the discussion, the eyewitness account from the guy who shot the video, KCBS photographer Gil Leyvas.

Gil Leyvas:

‘The video speaks for itself. It’s definitely some object. It’s not a flock of birds or a jetliner. There was a large plume at the horizon and it kind of grew and got thinner, and it was spiraling in nature and as I zoomed into the point of it, you could see what appeared to be whatever it was, spinning in a trajectory like maybe a bullet or football.’

Another expert, Doug Richardson, editor of Jane’s Missiles and Rockets, who watched the video believes the object was a missile.

However, Doug Richardson, editor of Jane’s Missiles and Rockets, said he was left in little doubt that it was a missile after examining the video.

‘It’s a solid propellant missile,’ he told the Times. ‘You can tell from the efflux [smoke].’

News report from CBS:

Back to the eyewitness who filmed the ‘missile’, KCBS news photographer Gil Leyvas who stated he believed the object wasn’t a flock of birds or a jet. Leyvas stated when he zoomed in on the tip of object it was ‘spinning in a trajectory like maybe a bullet or football’. Leyvas’ bio at LinkedIn states Leyvas has been an aerial news photographer filming from news helicopters in the LA area since 1999. Based on Leyvas’ type of work and the area he covers, the skies over LA and the LA International Airport, Leyvas has seen countless jets departing and arriving at LAX, and, their contrails.

“Names Ash more than most, but NAH lives in San Diego, not “here” as repeatedly claimed on these threads.”

What part of the concept that aircraft FLY to other places do you not understand?

It’s ALL SoCal airspace sir. Don’t you think I fly beyond my little patch here? Would you like to see my logbook!

Look, I have seen all the elements of this illusion first hand. That is my experience. I agreed with the contrail assessment as soon as I saw the video myself.

That’s my view of this and it was greatly re-enforced by eh fact that few if any saw this illusion beyond a very small area.

My very first thought... too slow for a rocket.
And yes, I’ve seen ROCKETS launch out of Vandenberg dozens of times over my life here yes from LA a few times.

Oh wait all those agencys are coordinating and lying to hide this massive event!

Again...

Aircraft FLY places. Please understand pilots do not just do touch and go’s all day.

By deafault by insisting this was a rocket..you choose to believe that dozens of federal agencys and others coordinated within hours to do a massive coverup involving thousands of people.

That NASA is lying about weather satellite data that showed it was an aircraft contrail?

You really think that?

Because it is getting 9-11 troother whacko at that point.

Mu, I currently live virtually under (not quite, but about two to five miles distant) the flight paths of both Ontario airport and LAX. Trust me -- a plane approaching Ontario is NOT going to be at supersonic altitudes flying over north OC coastline if it intendes to land at Ontario. I assure you with most genuine sincerity -- a plane on approach to Ontario, even from Long Beach, would CLEARLY be visible to the naked eye. CLEARLY. There is no possible way, not even remotely, that a person on the ground or in a helicopter, even up in Santa Monica, even unaided by binocs or cameras with high-res zoome lenses, could confuse a plane on approach to Ontario with a missile launch. Ontario airport is about 40 miles almost due east of LAX.

identifying the aircraft responsible for the contrail.
