Amazing Interview: Air Force General says "Sub Launched Missile, 100% Certain"
Fox News Interview with Air Force General Tom McInerney | November 14th 2010 | Fox News Hannity Interview

Posted on 11/13/2010 2:55:59 PM PST by DontTreadOnMe2009

Hannity was surprised to hear a famous ex Air Force General tell him “That Is A Missile, Shot From A Submarine!” I quote retired Air Force Lieutenant General Tom McInerney (ex commander of 11th Air Force in Alaska) “I spent 35 years flying fighters, and you can see the guidance system kick in, I have watched that film 10 times, I am absolutely certain that that is not an aircraft, but a sub launch ICBM missile!!!” See the video and judge his words for yourself. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LivRJOWrcpA&feature=player_embedded#! I will next post a clickable link.

Folks have even found a GOES weather satellite image of the contrail.

How in the world do they know that contrail was the same one in that video ? We do not know the exact position of the rocket launch or original contrail.

Here's another photo of the same flight the following day:

Image is useless for determining detailed lighting of the contrail/plume. Too distant. You can take a guess on the lightning effects, but not enough detail is available. We have a closeup up high res video of the original contrail/plume.

Here's a photo of a December 31, 2009 contrail:

Another image of a different event. We do not know what that event was. People speculated plane, but no confirmation either way. There is more detail in that image though. Would like a more detailed closeup image, but the lighting effects appear to be from a plane contrail. So December 31st was a plane, November 8th was a rocket.

If you want I can show you a more detailed analysis as to why.

This sort of reasoning is fallacious when the person in question is not an expert.

So is there any consensus as to whether this General has any expertise with respect to the subject at hand?

I would tend to think General McInerny has some knowledge in this area, and that he would not want to sully his reputation by being so dogmatic about the topic when he need not be.

My experience is that generals, in general, tend to be pretty thoughtful in their utterances, and don't typically run off at the mouth about things they don't know, and consequently they often speak with supreme confidence about that which they DO understand. One usually does not become a general otherwise. But I'm generalizing.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I would expect that we would begin to see numerous other military "experts" chiming in, either backing or undermining the General's assertions.

So I ask: What other military authorities have opined on this subject, and what is their level of agreement?

Let's put away the hysteria...

"With all due respect to the General...

WRONG ANSWER!"

===============================================

Wouldn't hysteria be evidenced by a poster using large red font in bold capital letters to provide what they believe to be the correct answer?

Numerous people have posted seeing this on quite a few blogs now. It is silly to deny those reports. This missile was speculated to be 35 miles out by the helicopter pilot. If it was launched from San Nicolas Island it would have been about 50 miles from the Helicopter Pilot at launch. Heading westward.

Can we at least keep on the topic at hand people. No spinning top illusions. No philosophy discussions.

This was either an ordinary plane or an unbelievable SLBM or ICBM launch 35 miles off the coast.

So you have not even watched the video that this thread was created for ? The Retired General stated it was a sub launch and that it was a top secret mission. It stated there is nothing to worry about and that it was entirely believable. Personally I think launch from San Nicolas Island is more plausible, but it depends on what they tested. Laser based missile interceptor or first US supersonic cruise missile.

You are pinning all your hopes on a retired general. Without analyzing whether he is right.

He cannot be demoted for speaking his mind. He is retired. And he probably realizes Social Security is a joke and that his pension may soon be paid with monopoly money anyway. Most of his observations coincided with mine. So to prove him wrong would me I was wrong. And I do pride myself in usually being the first to find my mistakes. We all are human though, but I am not proven wrong on this yet.

So this general knows for sure it’s a top secret mission and spilled the beans? Was he on the inside of it and outed himself? Whoops that was silly.

Or was he just pulling all this out of his ass.

There is no need to be rude. A General Officer has an opinion that has yet to be refuted. That is all. Would you believe a General Officer has contacts within the military after retirement......I would.

So he either made it up entirely or he’s spilling the beans on a top secret issue. He’s either making a complete guess or is a traitor, which is it?

Watch the video. You decide. He speculated. You stated definitively.

Ok. I have not seen those reports. If you could direct me to some, I would appreciate it.

Not taking sides, one way or the other. I would buy it if it were our own tests. I do not buy China launching like that to “scare” us. China could scare us in many, many other ways.

I believe it was all our doing. We would just like to know that a launch is going to happen. I was always warned a couple of days before a Nuc detonation took place. This shouldn’t be any different.

What makes him a traitor....The fact that he thinks therefore he exists....

I am a military veteran, but not a military expert.

I am not a professional astronomer, but I do spend quite of bit of time looking up, since I was old enough to walk... In fact, I spend a lot of time obtaining digital images of astronomical objects of all types.

This includes daytime planetary imaging, solar imaging and night time deep space imaging of nebula, galaxies, binary systems, etc, etc.

I even built a small observatory to preform imaging of objects in the sky. The observatory can be completely computer controlled remotely from the home.

This is what I have imaged from my humble backyard observatory.

Inside, at the business end of the telescope.

M27 Planentary Nebula - 1360 light years away

M42 Orion is a stellar nursery where over 700 stars at various stages are being formed within the central core of the nebula.

Veil Nebula is an old supernova remnant in the constellation Cygnus. It is the remains of cataclysmic explosion of star that exploded between 5,000 and 8,000 years ago. This nebula is about 1,860 light-years distance.

My opinion, for what it's worth, after spending many years examining, observing and imagining objects in the sky, is the event that occurred off the coast of California recently, was a missile launch.
