Outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, facing a growing rebellion against her bid to become minority leader, is likely to be challenged for the post by a moderate Democrat.

North Carolina Rep. Heath Shuler, who has been sending signals since last month that he would run against the San Francisco liberal if she didn't step aside, is expected to launch his leadership bid on Sunday when he appears on CNN's "State of the Union." He's also appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe" on Monday.

Well, well, well. Hubba hubba. Hell freezes over. A Dem says ...

"we need a moderate voice in the Democratic Party."

I didn't know there were any moderate Democrats left.

"we need a moderate voice in the Democratic Party."

They already have it.

It's called the RINO voice.

How does Pelosi defend her categorical statements that the Democrats would retain the majority.

Along with Joe Bite-Me, no one is going to take her seriously any more.

This is going to be Comedy Central every time some Democrat is asked to defend her.

Where did I put my laughing machine?

This whole thing reminds me of ‘94, when they all started carrying bibles and talking about their family values. They usually couldn’t define “family values”, but if you needed them to get elected, then by golly they had them. It lasted about six weeks, if I remember correctly. Same routine, only “moderation”. And they’re just as clueless as the last time.

Would be better for Republicans if Pelosi was still in the Democrat leadership obviously. Her approval ratings are terrible.

There are some that are better liars than others, but there is no such thing as a moderate Democrat.

Shuler is desperate to appeal to his conservative district. He is one of the few blue dogs still standing and that’s only because the tea party idiots in Asheville got mad that their man didn’t win the primary against Jeff Miller. So they refused to support Jeff. I hope they’re happy that Shuler was re-elected due to their childish behavior. Jeff could have won the NC 11th. Instead we get pretty boy Shuler for another 2 years. Ugg.

There is no way that Pelosi won't retain the minority leadership. There are too few “moderates” left, and the “progressives” all are in the tank for Nancy. As a case study in delusion, it's always hard to top progressives: they all think that Nancy has done a great job.

Too bad there's no such thing.

Shuler is as dumb as a slug. He failed with the Redskins because he was too dense to know what to do to move the offense. Should he become minority leader, he’ll fail at that for the exact same reason.

Wait a minute, there’s a similar quote in history, isn’t there?

I hoped the Tea Party learned their lesson here.

Schuler's would have been a good seat to pick up.

I hope Pelosi wins against him. Our best strategies involve NOT having a moderate Dem as minority leader.

Yeah, we saw how well having ‘moderate Democrats’ to balance things up in Congress worked on that Obamacare issue—they cave the instant the demmies put ANY pressure on them.

Dump’em all, I say. Pick a side, but quit straddling the fence! >:-(
