Rep. Dan Maffei’s (D) strategy for bitterly clinging to the NY25 House seat is becoming clear. He’s hiding behind his attorneys who are doing his dirty work for him. He isn’t having bags of ballots appear, he’s trying to make bags of ballots disappear.
Absentee ballots were counted in Monroe County, and Ann Marie Buerkle’s lead expanded, yet again, over Maffei. Maffei’s campaign calls this good news.
Maffei’s campaign noted that Buerkle carried the 25th District’s three towns in the Rochester suburbs (Irondequoit, Penfield and Webster) by 10 points on Election Day, 55 percent to 45 percent. When the absentee ballots were counted Friday from Monroe County, Buerkle’s margin of victory was less than 2 percentage points.
Well, here’s the kicker – the Maffei campaign challenged about 170 Republican ballots! If those votes were counted, Buerkle’s lead would be closer to the percentages reported on election day. His campaign is also trying to overwhelm the people at the Board of Elections.
If Maffei continues challenging Republican votes at this rate, he will take the lead and a judge will decide the election.
Keep counting until the Democrat is ahead, then declare that the election is over.
SOP for democrats. And watch as republican higher ups say and do NOTHING. They haven’t the guts to go on national TV and throw a fit, making certain the entire nation is aware of what is going on.

This is outrageous but not unexpected.
I hope Ann Marie Buerkle really turns up the heat on this and refuses to back down.
She’s legitimately ahead and it’s her seat.

Vote counts in 25th district put on hold temporarily
Syracuse (WSYR-TV) - Recanvassing of machines and the counting of absentee ballots in the 25th Congressional race has been temporarily put on hold. The Maffei campaign asked a judge to postpone the counting until lawyers for both parties can be present.
Currently, Republican Ann Marie Buerkle leads Democrat Dan Maffei by a margin of 684 votes. She has tallied 99,583 while he has 98,899.
In total, 11,647 absentee ballots were sent out to voters in the district. 8,660 of those ballots have been received.

There was an article in the Post-Standard today about the whole thing.
He’s being a real snot about it. He does NOT want to give up that seat and power.
I’m going to try contacting Ann Marie Buerkle and really encourage her to stick with it.
