But I’m being told over on the thread suggesting that the US should do a month-long observance like the poppy, that Britain isn’t being overrun by muslims and that Britons like National Health. ???
1—The poppy is a wonderful symbol and the Poppy Appeal is a wonderful charity appeal which is supported by hundreds of millions in Britain and the Commonwealth, from Canada to Australia, New Zealand to Malta.
Please learn about it instead of sneering at it.
2—Britain is not being overrun by Muslims. The population of Muslims in Britain is 3%. And most British Muslims are neither extremists nor supporters of it. Like any group, most are decent hard working people. Stop believing the myths and hype that you read here or hear on talk radio.
At worst, Britain, like the west, indulges in inane PC-ism where Muslims and minorities are concerned.
BUT that is not the same as conquest or being a dhimmi state.
3—The majority of people in Britain support the NHS. They are aware that it badly needs restructuring. Most British people would retain the NHS, albeit with changes. Even conservatives would retain it, although most British conservatives would keep it as a healthcare for the genuinely needy, whilst promoting private healthcare heavily and creating greater access for the working public.
The NHS is NOT the hellhole many of you Stateside believe. In fact for all the antihype in America, its a much better system than the myth makes it out to be.
Is it perfect?. No.
But most who bash it in America have never been to Britain, let alone used the NHS.
Again, you need to stop taking your view on Britain from FreeRepublic, talk radio and taking much of what you read and hear about us as gospel.
