If I hadn’t been in LA and listening to plenty of talk radio during
1995-2005, I’d say this story was from “The Onion”.
Unfortunately, I heard a few talking heads saying circumcision should
be banned...

It's been a while, but in the Roman Catholic tradition, 1 January USED to be celebrated as The Feast of the Circumcision (formerly a Holy Day of Obligation), referring to Jesus' ritual circumcision.

Both of my sons were born in the Army hospital at Camp Zama, Japan. All male infants were circumcised before mother and child were discharged.
