Come to think of it. It’s been a long long time since I heard an engine backfire so I’ll give the officers a little slack. The whole of the east side of Kansas City is a battleground so I’d cut ‘em a little slack.
I will give them the slack on not being able to discern the difference between a backfire and gunfire.
I will not give them the benefit of the doubt for firing on a target with out verifying the target is an offensive target (a possible felon with a deadly weapon).
After all is it not the argument of the gun grabbers that LEOs are highly trained on the proper response to incidents exactly such as this. They should not be shooting until there is reasonable certainty that the suspect is armed and dangerous.
Especially with your WINDOWS ROLLED UP and the RADIO on.
