It wasn't exactly what they'd planned, but St. Charles North High School administrators said an anti-bullying initiative may have accomplished its goal after a group of students wore "Straight Pride" T-shirts through the hallways this week.
"While it may have been a little bit controversial at times, the kids at North are talking about this," said Jim Blaney, director of school and community relations for St. Charles Unit District 303. "They are learning about people who might have a different opinion than theirs."
Several students complained to high school administrators Monday -- the first day of an anti-bullying "Ally Week" -- when three students wore the T-shirts, which also quoted a Biblical passage advocating death as a punishment for homosexual activity.
"It was honestly just really upsetting to me that someone would try to bring that into school," said Joe Adamczyk, a senior who is a member of the Gay-Straight Alliance. "I thought society was sort of beyond this, but it feels like we're kind of regressing."
Deans met with the students, and after establishing that there was no threat of physical harm to others, asked the students to cross out a portion of the Biblical passage with permanent marker.
When two different students came to school the next day wearing homemade "Straight Pride" shirts -- without the Biblical passage -- administrators asked them to cover up with sweatshirts.
Students in both cases agreed, Blaney said, adding that the incident was delicate because the shirts' messages were phrased as a viewpoint, touching on students' First Amendment rights.

That about sums it up. Big picture though it is all about government power and control. The big government folks take any opportunity to insert themselves into the equation, establish a beach head and then increase their dominion over the people...
Bullying evolves down the same path we saw violence against women and protecting the life of the mother in abortion evolve to include thought -the subjective psychological that only government in all its infinite wisdom can define and police...
Similar furore arose in the day of the “X” caps (Malcolm X) which were answered by “Y” caps.
The shirts should have had the verse about the unity of man and woman from Genesis, or one of the instances where Jesus commented on it. There's no reason to give dorky administrators an excuse to call your shirt violent.
That is, if these kids weren't plants. I find that use of stoning passages from the Torah by today's Christians is a lib fantasy for the most part.
Awww, upset? Did you piss in your panties? Go home and have a good cry?
And then, "bullying is a crime."
And then, "bullying is a felony crime."
Amazingly, I'm not using hyperbole here.
But when a leftist group is allowed unfettered expression for their perversion, and normal people aren't, there's an issue.
No. The bullies just picked a different target.
This can't be stressed loudly and forcefully enough. This is probably the biggest push ever for the wholesale homosexualization of our schools - the most powerful foothold they could attain. Expect permanent programs to be installed, all in defense of "anti-bullying."
More insanity from our public school system.
They ought to create a test. Some should wear “Gay Pride” T shirts and some “Straight Pride’ T shirts and see what would happen.
