Texas National Guard to demolish 31 Dallas drug houses

The Texas National Guard is planning to demolish 31 vacant houses in Dallas next month as part of a program to rid neighborhoods of havens for drug activity.

The Guard's counter-drug task force does it once a quarter in cities across the state. They've torn down over 1,200 structures since the program began in the early 1990s.

"They not only are able to provide a service to the community, but at the same time they are able to train on the equipment which they are assigned to operate, giving them the opportunity to sharpen their skills," said Staff Sgt. Jason Kendrick, a Guard spokesman.

The Guard will tear down backyard sheds and garages also for a total of 49 structures in Dallas. All of them have had suspected drug activity in or around them.

"We're not going in and taking down old eyesores just because somebody wants to take them down," Kendrick said. "The house has to have a history of drug use attached to it."

I had no idea The Guard did this. I would imagine the property owners don't think too much of this. But I would think the neighbors are relieved.

Can we fill the houses up with drug dealers and pedophiles first before we demolish them?

What if the drug houses are on the historic drug house registry?

This is an excellent idea. Cleans up the structures in the neighborhood, cleans up the bad culture in the neighborhood, and sends a message to the druggies.

Nope. But I have no sympathy for the owners. There was enough of that crap in my neighborhood growing up.

“When is Rick Perry gonna protect the border? He is McCain 2.”

When he's forced to politically.

"How is that dead guy the Mexicans shot on the lake?"

Still missing and presumed fishbait.

... and it gives great training to US troops attacking US houses on US soil, under CIC Obama. Don’t worry, they’ll only do it to the drug houses, right?

I don't think Obama has Constitutional authority over the Texas National Guard.

Furthermore, I doubt the Guard would turn on unarmed law-abiding citizens, and if Obama wanted to overtake America using the US military, GIs would disobey his orders.

Finally, he'd have to order the murder a several million well armed US citizens inluding those who served in our military defending America on foreign soil.

The first of your three paragraphs is wrong; the the Governor and the President issue conflicting orders to the Guard of a particular state, the courts decided the President’s order controls. (So much for the idea that the Guard is “the militia” which exists to protect the states from federal tyranny.)

I hope your second paragraph is correct. I also hope your third doesn’t come to pass.

Typo: not “the the Governor and the President ... “ but instead “IF the Governor and the President ...”
