PARIS -- A French lawyer has a warning for parents-to-be: Naming your baby girl Zoe could set her up for a lifetime of annoyances - everything from playground teasing to sexual come-ons.
That's the contention of David Koubbi, who is wrangling with French carmaker Renault about its plans to call its new electric car "Zoe."
Koubbi is representing the parents of two little girls named Zoe Renault (ZO-eh ruh-NO) - no relation to the French automaker - who are outraged their daughters might have to share their names with a car. They want Renault to find another non-human name for the model.

Mercedes is also a girl’s name. I am sure there was a Mercedes Benz or two in Europe when the car line was named.

I think the car was named for Mr. Benz’s daughter (like
Edsel Ford)

Mercedes Benz was the name of a real girl.
Her father gave the money to Karl Daimler to build his car and insisted it be named after his daughter.
I guess times have changed.

Looks like they have nothing but time to protest or surrender at a moment’s notice.

The Mercedes that the car was named after was Mercedes Jellinek. Her daddy was an investor and race car driver. He would race under the nom Mercedes even before the car company adopted the name. Afterward the changeover, he adopted her name as part of his last name: Emil Jellinek-Mercedes. Neither Daimler or Benz had any direct connection with the girl.

Maybe they just need to take more naps. It might help with the crankiness and fussiness.

Thanks for the info. The combination of Latin and German
names sounds odd to some, but I had an aunt named Juanita
Stroble!
