At the same time we should not let up on trying to get a handle on the public schools even as we try to end the system.

Wasted energy and time.

Been there, done that - 30 years ago, umbrellered with groups across the country.

The ONLY way to 'fix' the public schools is to bankrupt them by providing better alternatives for kids/parents.

AND getting teachers out of the Union. As long as there is one union finger in the pie - they will rule.

We need to use our time and money in getting our kids educated OUT FROM UNDER the Socialists.

We can start with a combination of home schooling/online schooling and move into small neighborhood schools, overseen by parents - as it was meant to be.

Churches are ideally set up for schooling - local, classrooms/bathrooms/kitchens/playground areas. They can be 'rented' for school days - ( the churches would welcome the income) and not be run by the churches themselves...open to all, strictly for the 3-R's.

A large number of the local churches are running their own mini parochial schools. I hate to say it but the Catholic school here uses a public school curriculum. The local Episcopalian school is pretty good except that it is about as secular as the public schools but the history teaching is lots better. History is the main thing. Without that kids grow up with no sense of human nature and what sorts of things work and what don’t work. They are much more susceptible to utopian schemes.
