Detroit Officer Fired For Assault, Promoted To Highland Park Deputy Chief

Basically, a female Detroit officer was charged with felonious and aggravated assault. Eventually, the Sgt. would plead no contest to aggravated assault, a misdemeanor.

Detroit PD fired her and she was higher immediately by another department and now promoted to Deputy Chief. Plus throw in she is suing Detroit for firing her from the police.

Highland Park Mayor Hubert Yopp states he did not know this officer was charged with a felony before she was hired. However, the Highland Park knew about her criminal background and still hired her.

Highland Park Chief Police Lorenzo Veal II, who was promoted at the same time as Jones, said Tuesday that the department was aware of Jones' criminal offense when she was hired.

"It wasn't an issue," Veal said, adding that the Detroit Police Department's "loss was our gain."

Must be awesome to live in a world of unaccountability complimented with suing to be rewarded for criminal behavior.

Pictures of victim. Witnesses state the officer ground the broken glass into victims skull and exposed her bone.

Apparently, this is behavior is acceptable with Highland Park PD or their have no hiring standards.

Stuff like this is why I moved my family out of Detroit in the late ‘60.

IMO: Detroit is representative of a the typical ‘liberal controlled’ city. A slum. The city is a shining example of why ‘liberals’, or whatever they call themselves today, should not be in control....

The beach town near hear used to have a chief who hired only officers who had been fired for such things elsewhere. It was normal to be stơpped for letting your wheels touch a yellow line and then as you were fumbling for your papers, find yourself facing a .45 held in a combat stance and ordered onto your face on the ground. The chief ran for county sheriff one year and got only votes from the Beach. Fortunately he did not get to be sheriff.
