Has anyone mentioned yet that Naval Base Ventura County, a.k.a. Pt. Mugu, is on the coast a mere 35 miles north of the presumed launch area? This is a mainland base for the Pacific Missile Range that test fires missiles far beyond Hawaii, as well as home to four Airborne Early Warning Squadrons, which are Naval AWACs and submarine killers. The Air National Guard is also based there. So, it's not unlikely that a missile launched out of the area might well have been one of theirs as their test zone extends just to the northeast of Catalina island, the supposed launch vicinity. If not, and it was from a foreign submarine, these guys would have been all over the area in just minutes to find and neutralize it. The sky was beautiful and clear here last night, yet there appeared to be no post-launch aircraft activity in the area whatsoever if they were indeed hunting for anything.
