The problem I have with your theory is that a jet will produce a contrail for each engine. There are two, or possibly 4 separate contrails that join together somewhere behind the vehicle. The video clearly shows a single smoke contrail from a fire-based engine... not separate water vapor contrails merging together

I think it was just too far away to see the multiple nascent contrails. Positive of it.

Contrails can vary. It is all down to conditions. Some partially form, some disperse and some persist. There is also perspective to take into account and distance. The aircraft is moving away from the helicopter camera. People are still filming these ‘missiles’ being launched off California. See aircraft contrails from California back in December 2009.
