I believe the term is "schadenfreude." The word comes from the German; it means "enjoyment derived from the troubles of others," according to the Merriam Webster Dictionary's Web site. I found myself coming down with a case of schadenfreude when I learned that MSNBC's Keith Olbermann has been suspended indefinitely without pay. Olbermann's infraction was donating money to Democratic candidates. MSNBC went into what I call "National Public Radio mode," issuing some self-righteous statement about Olbermann violating journalistic ethics and the network's policies that forbid personnel from donating to political campaigns.

MSNBC was FOS for having this rule. So what if a person wants to donate to a candidate? Isn’t it obvious the way the person leans politically?

Chances are he was about to be outed as donating the same day he had a candidate on which would have been embarassing. They can claim they would have stopped the scheduled program due to some pretense of fairness
If thats all it was it would be one thing, but PMSNBC and Olber-puke especially contantly wail and whine about FOX news being biased, and FOX contributers are the "worst person in the world" blah blah blah.
Even with all of that, most people couldn't care less what PMSNBC or Olberman thinks or says if they tried. Except you'd think, with all of their whining, they would at least take a look in the mirror every once in awhile.
Thats what bothers me the most about preaching Hollywood freaks, the Al Gore's and John Kerry's and elite politicians, "journo-lists" and even liberals in general.

I agree with you. Dont you think some of the Fox News personalities contribute to GOP candidates? Brit Hume and Fred Barnes come to mind. Fox News is conservative. MSNBC is liberal. Hello, anybody out there surprised? They both make money. Fox just makes a lot more. I think the problem with Keith is that he didnt follow company guidelines. It’s no secret Joe Scarborough has even headlined GOP fundraisers as well as contributing and he hasnt ever been suspended. Heck, the GOP tried to get him to run for the Florida Senate seat!

It’s OK to donate to political candidates, as long as they are ones that MANAGEMENT APPROVES.
That , in itself, is what is illegal and should be prosecuted.
It’s called a contract. Olbermann wasn’t supposed to give money to RATS without notifying his boss. Do you really think this is the first contribution he’s made to leftist candidates? What about the other screamers on MSNBC? Do you think none of them have given RATS money?
The whole thing was a cheap publicity stunt to attack FOX, and it’s a shame to see Freepers dumb enough to fall for it.

If you don’t think this whole scam was an underhanded attack on FOX News, you weren’t paying attention. Check out Maddow’s speech. She spent most of her time attacking FOX, not defending Olbermann.
Rachel Maddow is an on air personality and employee of MSNBC, not a policy maker or member of management. Sure, she has a lberal, biased opinion but she didnt have anything to do with the executive decision to suspend Keith. There is no conspiracy by MSNBC here that I see and I am pretty adroit. No offense to you personally, but sometimes I think some here over analyze situations and give the libs more credit than they deserve. It is not 1952 and there is not necessarily a commie hiding under every bed. Enuff!
