20% across the board ACTUAL spending CUTS for ALL gov’t. If the Defense dept needs more they can explain why they need it just like all other revenue consumers. Limited gov’t means LIMITED gov’t. No one’s PORK is better than another’s. The US is broke. Everyone PAYS.

Cut all unconstitutional agencies, departments and bureaucracy.

That’ll cut all spending by much more than 20%. Then worry about the military, which is one of the few things the fedgov is actually supposed to do.

I think that's the way to go. Granted, there are programs that need to be eliminated completely - but wrangling over those will take forever. We are in an emergency situation, and I think across the board cuts are the first step. THEN, you can take more time in deciding which programs to completely abolish.

I’d say that we instinctively understand that, in many cases of limited government, if cut the government’s budget... then we’re going to get less from the government.

But when we start talking about defense, everyone still wants a military that can do all the things it has done in the past... but we are no longer willing to pay for it. If you want to cut defense, then you must reduce their burden to match.
