Actually, it’s not PC, it’s just the UK worldview. People from the ME, India, Pakistan, etc are called Asian.
Pakistan is a nation in Asia, as is Afghanistan.
The Middle East is considered southwest Asia.

Pakistan is in SE Asia, the Indian subcontinent. Why anyone would class it as Middle Eastern is beyond me.
