I’m sorry about the lack of “barf alert”, but I found the childlike disappointment of the author very touching (and amusing.)
Your Santa analogy is perfect. The author has suddenly found out that the Great Obama - brilliant orator, mighty speaker, etc., etc. as portrayed by the fawning US media during his rise - is so tongue-tied that he can ONLY give public speeches that are written for him to be read off a teleprompter. I love the “who knew?” tone of the piece.
