Yes, nothing in Art. 2, sect.1. prevents Anwar al Alwaki from being President.

I’m sure that his birth certificate doesn’t have an asterisk saying he’s a born citizen, but not a “natural born” citizen. In fact, I’m not aware that any such document exists for anyone. Are you aware of anyone having such a document? That ought to tell you something.

My point is simply that the expression “natural born citizen” could be taken to court and actually could be found to mean: “both parents citizens at time of birth.”

Obama would not have passed that hurdle, I would have welcomed it, and to be consistent, I would have to same the same, regretfully, about Rubio.

However, it’s not as if being a Senator or Governor would be a terrible thing for Rubio. After all, there’s no guarantee than any potential candidate automatically gets to be president.
