The stuff that passes for text books now is awful.

Altogether apart from bogus content (and there’s tons of that) you will see images/pictures on EVERY page.

Maybe that is good for young children, but NOT for older students.

As a young student, I knew the books with all the cutesy pictures were for ‘kids’. I still remember going into the library as a gradeschool student and asking for the books that ‘don't have pictures’.

The librarian called my mother to tell her what I asked for. (it was a small town)

My mother told her to give me whatever I wanted in that library.

It depends. Diagrams and pictures are very important for math and science. Especially for biology and geology.
