Voters like hormonal teenagers
Vanity Fair via Drudge ^ | December 2010 | Graydon Carter

Posted on 11/05/2010 8:09:20 AM PDT by John.Galt2012

The general anti-Obama rage out there is palpable. But it’s no more virulent than the anti-Bush sentiment that has pervaded the country for much of the past decade—although this being America, there’s an attendant hatred for Obama that has more to do with race than anything else. What makes today’s fury more worrying is the fact that angry right-wing extremists tend to carry guns in disproportionate numbers to their liberal counterparts.

A distinguished colleague of mine likens the wiggy mood of the nation to that of a hormonal teenager. What do you call an electorate that seems prone to acting out irrationally, is full of inchoate rage, and is constantly throwing fits and tantrums? You call it teenaged. Is voting for a deranged Tea Party candidate

What?

I went to the poll wearing every gun, knife and sword that I own, singing “I’m 18!” at the top of my lungs.

Didn’t you?

Kind of hard to have an election in Mexifornia..
With several million proud mexicans voting for American politicians there..

No wonder its like Mexican politics.. in Mexifornia..
Nevada is more like Chicago politics.. same corrupt bastards..

It always works so well for socialists when they hate on the public out loud./s/

This kind of hate is intended to be kept behind the ivy walls of Harvard and Yale.

I wasn’t anti-Bush and I’m not anti-Obama....

I’m definitely anti-socialism and collectivism along with a desire to see the federal government severely whittled down.

Bush and Obama are just a small part of the problem...and both have expanded the government to unacceptable size.

NONSENSE!!

Bias liberalism view. Casting everything outside their view as hate, dangerous, stupid, dumb, somehow they throw all this crap against the wall and surprisingly some of it sticks. A few people believe it, and others wonder.

Father God help us in our day, in Jesus name, amen.

For a guy who allegedly is smart and a good writer, Graydon doesn't hold a candle to Peter Jennings in terms of dressing up their tantrums as pseudo-psycology. I mean, look how Jennings said the same thing 16 years ago. A tantrum, but much more subtle about it:

Some thoughts on those angry voters. Ask parents of any two-year-old and they can tell you about those temper tantrums: the stomping feet, the rolling eyes, the screaming. It's clear that the anger controls the child and not the other way around. It's the job of the parent to teach the child to control the anger and channel it in a positive way. Imagine a nation full of uncontrolled two-year-old rage. The voters had a temper tantrum last week....Parenting and governing don't have to be dirty words: the nation can't be run by an angry two-year-old.

True. But they are both misguided. Jennings’ view: A parent is to the child as the government is to the voter. BZZZZZZZ. WRONG! The truth is: A parent is to the child as the voter is to government.
