Lower down, three types prevail: (1) sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces of the powerful pols and rich contributors, (2) the friends of powerful pols and rich contributors, and (3) girls brought aboard to service all of the above (eg, Mary Madalin (or however you spell her name) was a low-level groupie for Lee Atwater — when he died, she suddenly became a political expert).
