There are some contradictions perhaps between his personal background and his politics. He supports tough anti-illegal immigration measures, though his parents are first-generation Cuban exiles who struggled to rise to the Florida middle class.

Why do liberal Hispanics automatically assume that all Hispanics approve of illegal immigration? And how in the hell does being a "first-generation Cuban exile" fit into the equation of Rubio being more, or less, approving of illegal immigration?

I don't know of ANY Cubans that approve of illegal immigration. As a matter of fact I don't know any legal immigrants that are for illegal immigration if THEY had to do the legal jump through hoops to migrate here! And I know just as many Hispanics that get pissed-off at other Hispanics that don't learn English as I do Anglos.

Usually it's La Ratza and that far-left Puerto Rican group, whose name escapes me at the moment, that advocates for illegals and everyone else just assumes it's what all Hispanics want.

I have several close friends that immigrated here from Russia. Knowing what it's like living under Communism, they hate the Democrats. And they speak excellent English. It took years for them to get through the whole immigration process. They look at illegal Hispanics and wonder why they are so special as to get a pass on immigration laws.
