On a night when America turned from blue to red, few states swung harder than Wisconsin, where Republicans experienced their greatest electoral gains in decades, picking up a governor, Democrat Russ Feingold's U.S. Senate seat, both state legislative chambers and two U.S. House seats.
A battleground state that Barack Obama dominated two years ago dealt him and his party a sharp political rebuke Tuesday, as Democrats lost ground with one key voting group after another - independents, blue-collar whites, suburbanites.
Nationally, the GOP recaptured the U.S. House and whittled away at the Democrats' big Senate majority, transforming both the balance of power in Washington and the electoral map heading into the 2012 election for president.
Here in Wisconsin, Republicans gained a governor and U.S. senator in the same election for the first time since 1938. This was the only state in the country where Democrats lost the governorship, a Senate seat and an entire legislature.

When Fox called it for Walker last night, I called and hollered an incoherent message for you. :)
Liberty has hope in Wisconsin. But the economy in the rust belt depends upon 2 things:
1: Geting rid of the parasitic unions.
2: Retaliation against foreign trade partners for currency manipulation, Communist slave labor, and other unfair trade practices.
This is going to become an increasingly pressing issue as China grows to become an ever greater military threat due to its growing industrial might all of which is due to us.
Currently the Federal Government occupied with domestic matters(all of which are unauthorized in the Federal Constitution) has been paying far, far too little attention to the pressing foreign matters, letting other country’s abuse us economically.
The Feds need to leave the domestic matters to our State and local Governments and actual focus on doing its actual constitutionally enumerated jobs which it has thus far been letting slide much to the detriment of our situation.
Michigan’s state government is all red. Governor, majority in house and super majority in senate. Time to bounce Stabenow and Levin.
I loved your message! I listened to it as soon as I got home last night.
Not exactly weeping, but it's very quiet in the halls of government buildings today. :-)
I am a fellow Michigander, and I our state elections turned out WAY better than I had hoped. Gov, Lt Gov, AG, SOS, Majorities on the State Supreme Court, House and Senate!!
Did I miss anything??
Who woulda thunk it a year or two ago??
Thanks for posting this bump! We did it!
I think someone decided there has been enough voter fraud up here. When my brother and I got to the polls, he had to re-register because he hadn’t voted in the last couple elections. Maybe all those crooks driving up from Chicago didn’t think filling out a new registration card was a good idea.
I’d say Big 10 states (i.e. the Midwest plus PA) are where we we made the most gains, including:
Minnesota: House seat, the state legislature
Wisconsin: Governor, state legislature, two House seats, Senate seat
Iowa: Governor
Illinois: a Senate seat, three or four house seats and maybe Governor
Indiana: a House seat, Senate seat, state House
Michigan: Governor, two House seats, state House
Ohio: Governor, two house seats, state House
Pennsylvania: Governor, Senate seat, five House seats, state House
Did I miss anything?
The train definately needs to be benched.
Taxes in Wisconsin are waaaayy too high===property & income.
Property prices are also high.
Cars get salted to death because of winters there. 3-4 year turnovers are common.
Heating costs are high.
Hard to attract business & workers to an area where they get hammered by such things.
Until the handouts are gone & there are serious controls on all the taxes, it is a hard sell to me or anyone to move us there.
I love that Iowa voted out 3 judges that supported gay marriage.
