(Flashback) Michael Steele: GOP won't win House

He seems to have generally done a fine job.

I don't think it would've been prudent or wise to predicted the GOP retaking the House back in January. They captured the House, they reduced the Democrat's power in the Senate a bit, they took back many governorships and legislatures. It was a good night.

My home state of California, however, was entirely immune to any GOP momentum. With the last hope having fallen behind in the count, It looks like GOP will lose all CA statewide offices and by about 10% from U.S. Senate to Governor on down the ballot.

Exit polling data showed those who are personally worse off financially than 2 years ago or worried about the economy most for the coming year voted for Meg Whitman, the GOP gubernatorial candidate. With 12.4% unemployment in the state I'd have thought the economy would've weighed heavily more voters minds.

Voters for the winner, Democrat Jerry "Moonbeam" Brown, were most concerned for the war in Afghanistan and getting increased health care benefits in the coming year. They believe "raising taxes" will fix our state's problems and "want gov't to do more."

All Steele heard from at that point as Chair of GOP was the “rule” of a minority of elitist Rinos. He did not realize that the Rinos were “ruling” standing on two legged stools.
