DeMint needles GOP leaders in congratulating Paul (DeMint attacks McConnell, Cornyn, RINOs)

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) needled his own party's leaders in congratulating Republican Rand Paul's victory in the Kentucky Senate race.

"I want to congratulate Rand Paul on winning a race that the leaders in his own party said he could not win," DeMint said in a statement. "Rand overcame difficult odds because he consistently stood up for conservative principles."

Paul is one of the crop of GOP candidates this cycle allied with the Tea Party movement to have beaten an establishment-backed choice in the Republican primary. He beat Secretary of State Trey Grayson in an upset victory in the GOP primary.

That primary split conservatives like DeMint, who's sponsored likeminded GOP candidates through his Senate Conservatives Fund, from senior leaders such as Sens. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and John Cornyn (Texas).

"I was honored to be an early supporter of his campaign, and I look forward to working with him in the Senate," DeMint said.

McConnell and Cornyn are part of the problem with the GOP. Demint has very skillfully put a bullseye on their backs!

Electing more anti-establishment conservatives to the Senate. That would take 2 or maybe 3 more cycles to accomplish and presume he’d still be interested in serving in the Senate and none of our nominees “grow” while in office.

I do love DeMint’s statement here. :-)

That’s the way to do it. The old get-along crap is over. Get out of the way, we’re coming through. If you want to cozy up to the dems, go become one.

Perfect opening salvo.

More votes than we have now. But I would settle for John Thune as a compromise to dump McConnell.

I don’t think that Demint should make a move to be Leader while the RATs still maintain control (minimal now) in the Senate. Let McConnel take the ‘face’ of the circus that’s going to continue until 2012. If GOP takes Senate, then I would agree for Demint to take control.

Cornyn's support is a "kiss of death."

Right on! I’m all for DeMint. He’s the most articulate of the conservative Repubs. Watching his trashing of the Obamascare Bill on Youtube was fantastically eloquent and hard-hitting.

He’s the leader we need. There’s not much the left can do to get mileage out of ridiculing him. He’s solid.

I’m sorry folks, but I think the same doesn’t hold for Palin (as much as I was initially excited about her, it was downhill from there. She’s woefully inarticulate and he knowledge of foreign policy is so shallow, in spite of her great basic values).

Sens. Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and John Cornyn (Texas).

These 2 make the guy in the box at the wake look like Steve O from Jackass pulling a stunt.

Job # 1 is to send these 2 hosebags packing and get some leaders with BALLS that will call the commies out for a fight.

We can make him the leader if all conservatives give their donations to his site and let him appropriate them to conservative candidates.

Drain the RNC and NRCC of funds they will have to make him a leader...

DeMint ‘12

Oh, I wish.

But, I'm pretty sure that he's said (several times) he isn't going to run.

Wait! He's a politician, after all..."not going to run" means, "I'm going to run", right?
