WV, DE and IL have a present vacancy in the senate so today's winners will be seated immediately. All the other states have no vacancies, they all have their senators and whether they were elected or appointed doesn't matter. Those elected today will be sworn in in Jan.

That is nonsense. All of those seats have senators in them. Roland Burris in IL, Ed Kaufman in DE, and Carte Goodwin in WV.
You’ve also forgotten Colorado, where Bennett is an appointed senator and NY where Gillibrand is appointed. That’s in addition to the aforementioned Florida seat.
Anyone who wins in this election for a seat currently held by an appointed senator can immediately demand to be seated. It remains to be seen whether or not that will actually happen.
