Well, it’s true we don’t exactly have much racial variety up here, but that’s slowly changing. Funny thing is, I have three good friends in the area who happen to be black. Even weirder: two of them are Republicans.;-)
You are confused because the progressive liars are duplicitous. When someone mouths ‘division of church and state’ just ignore them since they haven’t a clue and are trying to use the phrase like a talisman to squelch you.
I’m not confused at all. As far as I’m concerned, the government can stay the heck off of private property. Use the federal and state funded school buildings for public politics.
No, Iraq has counter vote-fraud measures in-place.
The idea is to have locations that are 'central' to each voting precinct so as to make it easily accessible to all. In some communities, a church may be to best suitable location. I recall as a kid growing up in the city, polling places in that area included 2 different school buildings, a church activity building, the basement of a corner grocery store (where I cast my first ever ballot) and several other polling places were in unheated garages with space heaters brought in if necessary.
In my current suburban borough, schools, fire stations, church basements and the local senior citizens center serve as polling places.
Damn Amish!
A black former Marine living in Northern N.H. would almost have to be a Republican. He’s made all the decisions that basically give the finger to the Democratic Party. About 15 years ago we had a young black janitor who drove a Miata with a NH plate on the rear and a “Confederate*” flag plate on the front lisence plate bracket. I was kinda disappointed when I visited my company’s plant in Alabama and saw not a single Confederate flag, and only one red pick up truck in the parking lot. We’re better Rebels in New England than they are in Alabama. ( Iused to drive a red pick up truck, but my wife wouldn’t let add a Confederate flag.)
*”Confederate” in quotes because, it was actually CSA Gen. Rbt. E. Lee’s battle flag.
I would expect the MSM to find a way to implicate the shooter as a “teabagger.”
Got me. They are all public places that have the room to set up a polling place and for suburbia, another important attribute --- ample parking spaces.
I bet he’s never fired a weapon.
They are all funded by tax dollars except for the churches.
They are all funded by tax dollars except for the churches. Churches are private property.
below the Stars and Stripes at my home. It conveys a similar message as the Confederate flag, but without the unfortunate racial overtones.
they bring a knife, we bring a gun- Barack Obama
The street punk, 0bama, has been trying to incite a race war ever since he appeared on the scene. He might find that he has bitten off much more than he can chew.”
“They bring a knife—we bring a gun”.....
I think this quote is attributed to Elliot Ness, who cleaned up Chicago years ago.
Since NObama was raised in Chicago politics, I am not surprised that he is using that phrase.
The Catholic school where they set up a polling place isn't funded with tax dollars and is private property, albeit, tax exempt. Ditto for the fire stations. They are volunteer companies and not owned by the government.
I still don't see your point. When they use private space, the County pays the owners for the use of that space. If the owner does not want to rent it, they don't have to. I don't know for sure, but I would not be surprised to find out that the county even pays the local public school district for the use of their facilities.
Not exactly.

Yeah - you’re right - I blanked on that detail. Gregory Floyd is in fact a white guy, and he’s had his own run-ins with the law.
Must be a Republican district.
“I also wondered, as I walked into a local church to vote this morning, why we use churches as voting locations. Is that not a violation of the separation of church and state?”
No, there is no constitutional separation of church and state, at least not in the sense you are mentioning.
Government may not establish a national religion.
That does not mean churches or Christians can’t participate in the political process.
A church is a large building, normally rather empty on a Tuesday.
I vote in someone’s garage. Community centers, synagogues, gyms, schools, union halls, whatever, they can all be utilized as a large space, as long as the owner is willing to rent it out for the day.
