It probably means nothing. They are just getting out of bed.
Thats what I figured.
I’m in NE Philly. Cast my vote for Adcock this morning, along with Corbett and Toomey. I would love to see that witch Allyson Schwartz get defeated. Turn out was light, and there was a guy handing out Adcock leaflets outside. Except for one lady, everyone who went in to vote took the flyer and seemed appreciative.
Suburban Philadelphia, 13th Congressional District. Voting has been steady and turnout very strong. We have a pool going, betting on the total turnout. The last presidential election had about 60% turnout. As of about 12:15 we were closing in on 30%, with almost 8 hours left. I’ve seen a lot of familiar GOP voters looking very motivated. Almost nobody is taking literature, apart from endorsement sheets. They are sick to death of the advertising, and almost everyone is coming to the polls fully decided and ready to vote. We have ~12-15 absentee ballots, many of which I recognize from my street list or as being from a GOP-heavy community in our district. We also have strong volunteer support which isn’t typical. Looking good.
Very lite traffic at our polling place at 7:30AM. Just my wife and I. Which suits me fine because it is a knee-jerk Democrat district on the fringes of Pittsburgh.
In wilkinsburg - very high turnout so far, which is bad news. Our precincts are about 90% Dem
Voted in Bucks County around 9AM.No line and my machine did not turn on.Man hit another button and it worked. No Dem signs or Reps at all which was odd.
My wife drove all the way to Gettysburg this morning to wheel my 80 year old mom into the voting booth. Put another check in the R column ...
Bucks County here too (8th district/Philly suburb). Steady turn-out, heavier than any mid-term I can remember. No idea what that means, as this is a mixed-bag area.
Also was at our church in NE Philly, they have a polling place there ...I didn’t see many people going in or out when we were walking from/to our car. Pamphlet folks outside said turn-out was light to middlin’. Believe that this area trends more highly Dem.
I’m in Westmoreland County as well. I live in a more conservative township. Voted around 1 pm with 2 of my daughters, it was fairly quiet, but my other daughter voted before us and said the poll workers claimed the turnout was pretty heavy.
Middle Paxton township,Dauphin County, steady turn out. I was number 170 around 9:30 ,one of my sons was 300 about 2 hours later.
Just had a robo call from Toomey it said turnout is low in Dauphin county. Please vote or we will get someone just as dumb as Casey in the senate!
We are 8th.My husband and Daughter are headed over to vote now.
Chester County, PA-6 (Gerlach). Much lighter than 2008, about like 2006. Interesting that a recent construction project that would have limited access to polling place at Township Building just cleared. Not sure everyone will know that, though. ROAD CLOSED signs still up.
They got right in and out.
Just voted PA-19. Steady. About 35% turn out and they are saying at this rate they may close to 45%.
Another update from PA-13, suburban Phila. Voting has been steady and strong, with a surge from the after-work crowd taking place now. As of ~6:00, we were approaching 50%. The 2008 presidential election was around 60%. This is a mixed area. Lots of Dems, but also many motivated R’s and quite a few I’s.
We’re in Sestak’s district, Western Montgomery County. I voted at 7:08 AM after taking my husband to outpatient surgery for a torn miniscus (sp?). And there was a line - not unusual for presidential elections, but very unusual for midterms, And only a couple of dispirited campaign types sort of baby-sitting their signs - didn’t even try to hand out voting info.
When I retrieved my husband from the surgery in the early afternoon, we went straight back to the polls so he could vote. No lines, but he was number 508 which is recordsetting for our township for midterms, and apparently even high for presidential elections.
