Camelot never existed.
Sure it did--just because I think it was foolish doesn't mean it didn't exist, as an ideal, a dream a lot of people were enthralled by after JFK's death. It was a fantasy of plenty of people, and it did a lot of damage. As a stupid dream that drew a lot of people into the cult of personality it's been alive for a long time. Finally people are realizing how stupid it was to believe in it, but it existed for decades just as many ideas you or I approve of. Pretending such things don't exist is willful blindness to the problems we have to grapple with.
