ATLANTA (AP) -- Authorities say a driver enraged because a 17-year-old boy egged his Mercedes on Halloween fatally shot the prankster in the neck and throat as he tried to run away.
Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones says the driver confronted the teen and fired 10 shots at him around 8 p.m. Sunday.

Eggs wreak havoc on a car's finish.......I might have tried to run the sob over but I wouldn't have shot him......or if I was younger I'd have tried to run him down on foot then kicked his ass.
I waxed my car once a month (base coat/clear coat), more than sufficient. It took me ten minutes to get home from where I was and get soap and water on it (didn't have any cash for the car wash, else I'd have gone there, as it was closer). The hood on my car had no insulation (not orignal equipment, and I didn't add any), so all the heat from the sun on the top (high 80s), and the engine from underneath cooked that egg in less time than it took me to get home.
It's not hyperbole, nor is it BS. In my case it took ten minutes to do all the damage it needed to do to make the paint look like crap.
As far as damaging the paint, have you ever color sanded a paint job?
You basically take sandpaper to your newly finished paint job to remove minor imperfections (runs, dust) and orange peel (look across your paint close to the surface, often it looks rough like the peel of an orange). This is all done to the clear-coat, as going through it and getting into the paint, pretty much means your screwed, and have to start over. IIRC (this was in the 80s), we started with 1500 grit paper and we wet-sanded the whole car. We finished with 2000 grit, again, wet-sanding. Then, we used (my dad, did - I wouldn't touch it for fear of burning through the paint) a high-powered buffer and compound to buff the clearcoat back to shine. The first compound cleans up the little sanding marks and ends with a swirl. The second with the buffer is a finer grit and cleans up the swirls. Then finish with a hand-rubbed compound to get rid of any lingering swirl marks and wax to complete the job.
Trust me, I took care of that paint, but the car was my daily driver and it did obtain some dings over time.

Mercedes is Hitler’s revenge. He should have tossed the kid the keys and gave him enough time to escape before he called the insurance company.
Because unless the driver stops and gets out of the car, you can't hijack a car by throwing eggs at it.
The perp running away is another clue.
Agreed, killing someone over an egging is idiotic.
If someone cannot control their emotions, they have to be extra cautious when owning a gun.
I've always heard it applied to BMWs. Seems to fit, largely.

If more people got shot & killed egging cars, it stands to reason that less cars would get egged. One would have to wonder “Is egging this car really worth death or being paralyzed?”
Same applies for car prowlers, carjackers, etc.
Now that is not just a hood ornament. It is a symbol of auto power, and when some punk rips it off to use as a belt buckle, or to hang around his or her neck, it drives us Benz'o'philes wild with rage.
10 shots? For an egg? A bit extreme. This case of vandalism against der Fuehrer's favorite transport does however, demand severe reprisals. Level the punk's housing project ...salt the earth sort of thing ... exile the punk's family to the Aleutians (deliver on Sherman's "40 acres" deal, although the promised mule would freeze) ... turn off their cable ...take away their Section 8 ... make him pull up his pants (probably would have gotten away if a belt had been in use!)
BTW, I hope the shooter and shootee are properly registered Democrats. Those 27 votes will be sorely needed come 2012. The fact that one is dead and one will be in prison has no bearing on it.
