That would be fine with me.

I point out the Laffer curve because it demonstrates that there is such a thing as an optimum rate which creates optimum revenue. Too high punishes success and stifles initiative. The Obama Regime definitely comes down on that side of the curve due to its insistence on “fairness” and “social justice,” effects on the overall economy be damned.

I am sure that I have heard Art Laffer himself express support for a flat tax. The most important thing is to create a tax policy that doesn’t hold back initiative.

Agreed. There was a a place where Obama was quoted as saying that high taxes on the “rich” were necessary as a point of “principle” even if they result in lower total tax revenues. That kind of thinking boggles the mind.

Yes, Laffer has recommended flat taxes many times. He is a hero of mine when he does that on the Kudlow Report, Fox, etc. The Laffer “curve”, however, is a separate issue and is a distraction I don’t like. It puts the emphasis on maximizing government revenue. I shudder when I think of somebody looking at that curve and saying, “Look ! Even the conservative Art Laffer thinks everybody should pay 19% income tax !”
