You can argue that Jefferson was a career politician, but Washington certainly was not. He never campaigned for a single position he held and spent more time farming and in battle than in politics.

Big difference between George and now. Washington walked away from it even when he was wanted. Today's politicians wont walk away even when they are despised.

Jefferson was a farmer and an architect as well: he designed Monticello.

Washington started out on a farm, but left to survey on the frontier, werved in the militia, and in later years returned to farming, where he made many innovations in agriculture.

Neither man was limited to one thing, unlike so many today.
