Arizona is a fascinating state because of the extreme reactions its controversial legislation seems to elicit from the country. Its definitely the Wild West when it comes to legislation, with the recently passed immigration law known as SB1070. Then there is Arizonas Proposition 200 from 2004 that required proof of citizenship in order to register to vote. It was approved by Arizona voters but was recently struck down by the 9th Circuit Court, dealing a blow to the very integrity of our elections. And don t forget the current legislative endeavors including a proposition that directly confronts the unconstitutional mandates in Obamacare and a proposition to undo the race-based hiring practices of Affirmative Action. To some, Arizona is on the cutting edge of states rights and law and order; to others it is a racist, hateful place that is violating human rights and is reminiscent of Nazi Germany.
In these 2010 elections, Arizona has the chance to be an important part of the Republican take-back of Congress, providing the opportunity to flip five House seats to the type of conservative Republicans the country needs. This is vital to re-shaping Congress. Arizona Congressional Districts 1, 3, 4, 5, and 8 are all up for grabs, and the support from Arizonans locally, and Americans nationally, is vital here.
Dr. Paul Gosar in Congressional District 1 has received endorsements from Sarah Palin and Hugh Hewitt among others. He is a successful dentist and small business owner who is well-known and well-liked in his community. He will be a key ally in the fight to repeal ObamaCare and set into motion the kind of reforms that can improve our health care system instead of destroying it. Who better to understand the ins and outs of health care and to speak with real world knowledge than someone who has actually worked there?
Ben Quayle, in Congressional District 3 who some argue was running off little more than name recognition in the primaries, has proven to be a bold campaigner and someone who has the right ideas to get the economy back on track and slow the growth of government. He has a plan posted on his website that outlines the steps he would take, directly refuting the false claim by Democrats that Republicans are offering no ideas of their own. Quayle has also received endorsements from key conservative candidates, has gained the support of the 3rd Congressional District in Arizona, and earned effusive praise from Hugh Hewitt.
Janet Contreras, the regular American in Congressional District 4 who is running against Ed Pastor, is giving Mr. Pastor a run for his money or rather a run for his war chest. It is an uphill battle, but on her side Janet has massive grassroots support from unhappy voters in Pastors district. Janet is the ideal person for this job. She is a former Democrat who has wholeheartedly converted to conservative principals and gained the support of key leaders in the conservative movement as well as the Tea Party. She wrote an open letter in 2009 to our nations leadership that Glenn Beck read on the air to national notice. The overwhelming support from citizens across the country and right here in Arizona encouraged her to run for office and propelled her through the primary and into the general election. She is the perfect choice for the people and by the people to change Washington.
David Schweikert, in Congressional District 5 who if elected should certainly join the ranks of other young guns in the Republican Party, is running against the Pelosi lap dog Harry Mitchell. Schweikert is a rare veteran in politics who doesnt compromise his conservative principals. This is another crucial race, and Schweikert, armed with solid arguments, is full of ideas for reversing the insane the growth of government and reinvigorating the economy. Mitchells campaign is doing what so many desperate Democrats are now doing across the country creating ads that are pathetically and blatantly false in an attempt to deceive voters, but with the truth and the help of the people Schweikert can win.
Last and not least among the candidates who will be fighting to change the course of Washington is Marine Veteran Jesse Kelly, whose district will prove to be one of the most important toss-up races there in the country, since it could be won by as few as 640 votes. While this is a close, tough race, Kelly has advantages: his district has more registered Republican voters than Democrat voters, and with the Blue Dog Democrat being shown to be little more than a myth, his opponents appeal should be weakened. Combined with the rising Republican tide across the country, this could be a key win.
Arizonas candidates arent just average Republicans. Theyre conservative Republicans who have had to stand strong on their conservative principals through the heated debates that Arizona has confronted with its tough solutions like SB1070 and 2004s Prop 200, as well as the current battle over health care liberty and institutional racism in hiring. Arizonas attitudethat if the federal government will not protect its citizens and provide for the common defense then the state willas well as the belief that unconstitutional government overreach must be fought, has produced the kind of conservatives this nation sorely needs.
The state of Goldwater, whose capital is named after the mythical firebird of rebirth, is front-and-center in the rebirth of conservativism and leading the country back to liberty, security and its Constitutional roots. If victory prevails Arizona will at least take 5 seat back to the house with Strong Republican Governor still in office.

Would someone explain to me how a State law which mirrors (ignored) Federal Law makes Arizona the "Wild West when it comes to legislation"?
I'm not only sick of this canard, but I'm having a WTF?? moment.
Just because Arizona isn't buying into Federal nonfeasance doesn't mean that Arizona is (or should be) the anomaly here.
How about we repeal the Federal Gun Control Laws, dump the income tax, and put the IRS and the BATFE after the illegals, then the only problem would be having to get out of the way of the stampede south...
"The America of my time line is a laboratory example of what can happen to democracies, what has eventually happened to all perfect democracies throughout all histories. A perfect democracy, a warm body democracy in which every adult may vote and all votes count equally, has no internal feedback for self-correction . [O]nce a state extends the franchise to every warm body, be he producer or parasite, that day marks the beginning of the end of the state. For when the plebs discover that they can vote themselves bread and circuses without limit and that the productive members of the body politic cannot stop them, they will do so, until the state bleeds to death, or in its weakened condition the state succumbs to an invader the barbarians enter Rome."
Arizona gave us what may turn out to be the most effective “October Surprise” with the Mexican-Narco beheading in Phoenix dramatically reminding people of the threat on our Southern doorstep. This should tip Grijalva and the other dem congress-critters from AZ into the street Tuesday night.
Not in its present form. I personally believe that America is headed for a break-up along ethnic lines. The blacks will get the Black Belt states, the Mexicans will get the southwest (possibly excluding Arizona; they're fleeing here in droves) and whites will take the rest.
The part that whites take will continue on pretty much as what we think of as "America."
The time of lock and load may come to the shores of America, freedom to worship God and His only begtotten son Jesus Christ our Lord, are the basis of all freedoms and must not be stolen by the godless murderers of the left, fascist abortionists, homosexual advocates, racist democrats and other fools who hate America.
American’s must first save Arizona and the rest of the dominos will fall in place .
American’s must first save Arizona and the rest of the dominos will fall in place .
Sad but true. People talk about the “right to vote.” Poppycock. There is no such thing. We could get back on track with a Constitutional Amendment to draw distinction between “citizens” who may vote and “civilians” who may not, as Heinlein proposed, but that will be a violent course with all manner of evil arrayed against it.
Didn’t Arizona just re-elect John McCain?
Nuff said???
So, what’s your point?
If you dont get it I would be wasting my time spelling it out for you, but just for starters.
Flip-flopping on Illegal immigration
The gang of 14
Campaign Finance Reform (Unconstitutional and a joke)
Siding with Democrats.
Had he been as ruthlessly opportunistic and pragmatic in his run against Barack Obama as he was in the campaign against J.D.Hayworth , McCain would be president now.
ARIZONA...if not us...WHO? If not now...WHEN? Vote them OUT!
Consider the two state that border AZ on either side.
California has all but “tipped over”, both demographically (Euros are now a minority there) and politically. It makes NO difference that there may still be several millions of “conservatives” in California. They are so overwhelmed by leftists that there is nothing that can restore it “back to the level”. Imagine if you will a seesaw with a 100lb girl on one end, and a 700lb sumo wrestler on the other — that's California. Will that seesaw ever be balanced again?
And there is no way to really “get the illegals out of California”, short of an exodus that would equal The Trail Of Tears in emotional and shock effect. But even more ominous is that illegals will “auto-legalize” within 20 years. That is to say, they are quite prolific when it comes to childbearing, and EACH AND EVERY baby that comes out of EACH AND EVERY illegal woman is an American citizen. They may be “ersatz” Americans — with little connections to our language, customs, or culture — but “Americans” they are, like it or not. A very large percentage of illegals currently here will “self-legalize” within a generation through their progeny.
New Mexico to Arizona's east isn't much better. It has now become the second state to go “minority Euro” and of late its politics have been tilting leftward. I believe NM now has a Hispanic “majority” and again, quite a few self-legalizing illegals.
And of course Arizona has its own share of illegals.
Years ago, the concept of “Atzlan” was ridiculed as a La Razan fantasy. Is there anyone who's still laughing?
If Arizona were “a state or two northward” (located next to Utah, perhaps), I would give it a real “fighting chance”. But considering where it is — next to the border of Mexico which is rapidly falling apart as a functioning state — and the states that it's sandwiched between, well.........?
This isn't to belittle the courage of Arizonans fighting for their survival against the coming tide.
But I'm a realist. And there are some tides that will not be held back.
Nuff said???
Yes and yes.
Rabs, thought you might have a chuckle at the title of the article. No specific mention of you-know-who, however....
Ping!
This article has failed to mention Ruth McClung who is fighting a great battle for southern Arizona and America vs. the Commie Raul Grijalva who loves Mexico more than he loves the United States of America. Boycott Grijalva!
A Leftist tactic is to always try to push the political center Leftward, which means smearing what was ordinary received knowledge as "extremist".
Whether the author did this knowingly or is just an unwitting victim of the times is not obvious, but essentially he's admitting he views immigration enforcement in the same light as the screaming commies: that it's vaguely racist.
There's nothing "wild" or "extreme" about immigration laws. Unless someone thinks that Invasion is a civil right....
Until hoardes of "immigrants" storm the borders of "white America" to escape the barrios, ghettos, or third world countries they came from. Then we're right back where we started from, except then there'll be noplace left for whites to run.
