Alvin Greene's quixotic rise to fame will likely come to an end Tuesday. He is expected to lose the South Carolina Senate race to Republican Sen. Jim DeMint, and that has Greene, who surprised the political world in June by capturing the Democratic nomination, lamenting on a few what-ifs.
Greene considers what could have happened if hed only gone negative on DeMint earlier, explaining to South Carolinians that DeMint started the recession. Then, he might have gotten his message across better. Or perhaps things would have picked up if hed been a better messenger.

I like to watch porno.
Is there any question as to what his answer was to “What time is it?”
At least Chance could do something productive.
Great movie, btw. “Being There” Peter Sellers last film.
You know what I wish Jim DeMint would do on Tuesday night in his victory speech?
I want him to extend an olive branch, along with some dignity, to Mr. Greene. In the form of a job. I want Senator DeMint to say something like, “It’s important that not just our nation unites, but our state as well. As a Senator, I need to hear all voices and all perspectives. My office will be extending an offer of employment in the next 72 hours to Mr. Greene, who is a veteran of our armed forces. I am hopeful that he will be available to accept it.”
Is the guy a screwball? Yes. Was it military related? From what I’ve read, perhaps. DeMint could find a job for him in one of his local offices, and erase the ridicule of this veteran.
Remember Greene when I was in the Army, a long time ago. Almost 100% that’s him. Not sure exactly where, as it all kind of blurs. Think he might have been in Supply. His bio isn’t exactly clear/incomplete. He was a strange one for sure, which is probably why I remember him at all. Sure
wish his DD-214 was published.
The world's greatest deliberative body is thus deprived of its next Ted Kennedy, the new lion of the Senate, our hope and our happiness forsaken. The Republic is shaken and rocked to its core by the thankless voters of South Carolina. The voters of my state were never so discriminating that they would refuse a man his place in the Senate just because he was a blithering idiot, a disgrace, a drunk, a killer. No, we are far more indulgent than the good people of South Carolina.
Caligula appointed his favorite horse, Incitus (which Robert Graves translates as Latin slang for "sexually aroused") to the Senate. See how much wiser he was than the People of Massachusetts, at least he sent the entire horse. How can the People of the Great and Sovereign State of South Carolina fail in their duty to carry on this storied tradition?
If only the DNC had pumped 40-50 million dollars into his campaign, he might’ve had a chance.
He’s a pre-felon.
That's so true (sniffle).
Greene was born to be a US senator.

And just think... 30% of North Carolinians are actually going to vote for this dolt.
It'll be, "Jim DeMint caused the recession."
Saw it again recently, doesn't hold up, for me. Most of the movie was spent with me thinking, "Yeah, I get it, I get it."
Sellers's last movie was "The Fiendish Plot of Fu Manchu."
I’ve been plenty critical of her, but it’s darkly comic to see the difference between the media’s treatment of Greene and their treatment of Christine O’Donnell.
