The likely speaker of the House in the new Congress, John Boehner, is about to find out what Barack Obama learned: Its much more fun to rattle the beasts cage than be locked inside it.
Will Boehners House Republicans remain the party of Hell, no or Lets make a deal? Signs point to the former. This is not a time for compromise, Boehner told Sean Hannity last week.
The Republican congressman added, without apparent impish intent, To the extent the president wants to work with us, in terms of our goals, wed welcome his involvement.
That Obama and Boehner might share many goals, much less work together on them, seems about as likely as Rush Limbaugh being named ambassador to the UN.
The Ohio congressman and the president havent met in months, dont like each other and arent much interested in putting on a buddy act the way that two fighting Irishmen named Ronald Reagan and Tip ONeill once did.
The House fiscal conservatives have two broad goals: to stop the Democrats from going any further along the road to a Euro-socialist state and to roll back some of their 2009-2010 legislation.
The first they will do but they could also do that with just less than a majority of the House. The second repealing ObamaCare and the like they largely cant do, but with a majority of the House they will take partial ownership of Americas problems.

There better be no freakin deal makings. That is why we are in the sorry terrible trouble we are in. If YOUR ideals are correct then why compromise with people whose ideals you think are incorrect? Thayt makes no sense except in politics where evryone tries to get theirs. No More. Govern as the people have directed you too or you also will be tossed out.
Agreed. The lesson the Republicans ought to learn is the Democrats were never interested in playing fair when they were in power. Now its time to turn the tables on them and do things our way.
And when they complain, we can observe, “we won” - we don’t have to do anything for you. Go take a hike.
NO new taxes vs Tons more Taxes?
Compromise - Only some new taxes.
No new gun control laws vs Take all guns away?
Compromise - only a few more gun control laws.
No new spending vs Tons more new spending?
Compromise - only lots more new spending.
Sorry, I just don’t see where compromise gets us anywhere. Well, maybe the same place the libs want to, just at a slower pace.
I really wish one of the young guns would challenge Boehner for the speakership.
Compromise with a Communist is subversion.
I hate to say this but I don’t trust Boehner. I think he was the one who suggested that the newly elected TP folks use the current republican staff members.
