The current generation really doesn’t either know or care to know much about Cuba and/or Cuban issues.
I think the whole thing has become a petty annoyance to too many people...even in Miami when the Dhimmis have been making inroads for years.

You are absolutely on target - much of the younger generations don't view totalitarian leftist governments with the same horror and disgust as the generations who saw over 160 million people murdered in the name of totalitarianism, socialism and communism in the last century (counting the 56 million killed in WWII fighting the Japanese and Hitler's National Socialist German Workers' Party. Times have changed - colleges are now run by socialists and our youth are brainwashed with Political Correctness and simplistic utopian ideas of "social justice".

That explains a big part of it.
And here is something to chew on:

We are still enforcing a 48 year old economic embargo against Cuba put in place because they have a Marxist president who installed a socialist government and economic system.

Yet we now have a Marxist president residing in the American White House. He has staffed our governmment with socialists, rammed socialist laws down our throats, confiscated auto companies, banks and billions of dollars worth of private wealth, and is well on the way to destroying what is left of our free enterprise system.

Sounds as if we need to embargo Washington, DC too.

Democrat congresses gave us 100,000’s of thousands of pages of laws that mandate big government like the EPA, social security,medicare, New deal, pro-union legislation, thousands of government agencies, thousands of government program, housing projects, etc..

Yes, the main concession made to Khrushchev was removing already-outdated Jupiter IRBMs from Turkey. Also, JFK sat on his hands while civil rights battles were raging in the South. The 1963 CR march in Washington was essentially a protest at the administration’s lack of action.

In regards to Cuba, that was really Eisenhower’s fault. Castro traveled to the US in the spring of 1959 looking for support, but Ike snubbed him and instead went golfing. So he turned what could have been an ally of America into an enemy.

As for the 1964 election, Kennedy reportedly said a few days before his death “Well Lyndon, if we go up against Goldwater next year, we win Texas and Massachusetts and that’s it.” Realistically, most Americans weren’t ready for the idea of three presidents in a little over a year, making LBJ’s election a fait accompli.
