Two of Connecticut's Democratic Congressmen are in dead heats in a new poll with just days to go before Election Day.
5th District Congressman Chris Murphy is trailing his Republican challenger Sam Caliguiri by a slim margin in the poll conducted by the Merriman River Group.
Caliguri has 46.9 percent of the vote to Murphy's 45.5 percent, according to the poll commissioned by CT Capitol Report.
The poll does have some good news for Murphy, who is seeking his third term in Congress.
"It appears that Representative Chris Murphy has closed the gap in recent days," the poll's director Matthew Fitch said. "That's a difficult feat for an incumbent to do, but he has yet to break 50 percent at any point in our polling and time is running out."
In the 4th district, Republican challenger Dan Debicella holds a two-point lead over incumbent Democrat Jim Himes 48.0 percent to 46.1 percent.
Himes hopes to get a boost from a visit from President Obama in Bridgeport on Saturday.
"With the President coming to Bridgeport for Representative Himes, the question continues to focus on turnout," Fitch said. "It is clear that Representative Himes will win Bridgeport by a large percentage, but he may need at least 30,000 people to come out to vote from that city to offset expected losses in the rest of the district."
The poll shows Himes is struggling with male voters, and with people who identify with the Tea Party.
"Dan Debicella is winning Tea Party voters by a 10-1 margin, while Himes leads everyone else," Fitch said.
Tuesday Tsunami!
I wish my girl that was born in NC can pull off the Senate upset.
Last thing I’ve heard, we could pick up one seat in Maine, two in New Hampshire, two in Massachusetts, one in Rhode Island, and two in Connecticut. That would be a pickup of eight of the 22 New England seats. Hope they aren’t all RINOs.
Polls do have a + or - error of maybe 3 percent, so if they are within that margin of error, they are considered dead heats.
Chris Murphy is my pathetic Congressman - I would love to see the last of him. Let’s hope enough liberal folk in NW CT have finally woken up!!
“Chris Murphy is my pathetic Congressman”
My congress witch is Rosa DeLauro. Hangs head in shame.
Oh yeah - The folks here are dyed in the wool. But I have noticed that you rarely see an Obama bumper sticker anymore, so that’s a good thing. And it does seem that I see more Caliguri yard signs than Murphy, which is encouraging. Poor you with all those Dem in-laws...the holidays must be torture!!
I’ve heard DeLauro is horrible...any chance she will go??
" Praise Jesus. We need a friggin' miracle to elect this lying POS. If we don't
hold onto the damn Senate my stupid husband will look like a total screw-up."
Oh joy---a last minute fly-in. That's what turned it around for Scott Brown (R-Mass) when he snatched the Senate seat last Jan that the Kennedys held for 50 years. Ohaha's dissing Scott Brown's truck was the clincher.
Conn Dem's campaign vehicle.
Make sure those in Meriden, Middletown and Cheshire in Caligiuri’s district come out for Len Suzio for State Senate.

I don’t think so. The 3rd district is heavily democrat, unionized, academia and with a large population of urban minorities.
Only way DeLauro will leave office is feet first.
Sad.
Too bad indeed...my condolences.
intelligent ‘Rats would have tried to avoid making 2010 a referendum on Obozo, but Obama himself said this kind of thing recently and now Hines is saying it in introducting the Bozo-in-Chief
“Yes We Can” (Obama just said it — ha haaaaaaaa)
That's about the dumbest thing Hines could have said....in this political environment.
