Despite what the president called a "credible threat" to the U.S. — along with a dramatic spike in "terrorist chatter" and international travel among terrorist suspects with U.S. passports — the National Threat Advisory is still stuck at yellow, or elevated.

I reported an unattended backpack in a shopping cart at a busy department store in my area and it was totally ignored. Individuals, retailers and businesses have become complacent since 9/11. Some of us are always on high alert for the out-of-place or potential threat, but most (IMHO) only think about it when boarding a plane.
