With only a few days until Election Day, Democrat Jerry Brown holds a slightly smaller lead over Republican Meg Whitman in Californias gubernatorial race.
The latest Rasmussen Reports statewide telephone survey of Likely Voters shows Brown picking up 49% support, while Whitman draws the vote from 45%. Two percent (2%) prefer some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are still undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
These numbers move the race from Leans Democrat back to a Toss-Up in the Rasmussen Reports Gubernatorial Scorecard.
Last week, Brown held a 48% to 42% edge over Whitman. Support for Brown, a longtime Democratic figure in the state who previously served as governor from 1975 to 1983, has steadily risen from 40% in late August. Backing for Whitman, a former CEO of eBay, has fallen slightly from a high of 48% in the same period.
In four surveys conducted throughout October, Brown has earned 48% to 50% of the vote. Whitman has picked up 42% to 45% vote in the same period.

Woo Hoo. Go RINO. Seriously, he is a putz, but she is a RINO.
fifth time posted.
Sorry to all you California Freepers but the comedy of watching Jerry Brown ride California down the toilet would be great... until the rest of the country gets the bill of course. ;-}
I really, sincerely, hope brown wins. Before the ship goes down, you really need to move the right guy into the captain’s seat.
Once he is elected and seated, all the pieces will be in place. :)
I still can’t get my mind wrapped around that fact that MOONBEAM is even a serious contender for gawds sake, for the Gov! I mean, his tenure as Oakland Mayor and previous posts are PROOF he is incompetent! Anywhere else in America, this dork would be polling single digits!
Ride it, Slim!
Correction: A RINO humping a donkey costing the Rino 163 million dollars.... now thats news..
“Sorry to all you California Freepers but the comedy of watching Jerry Brown ride California down the toilet would be great... until the rest of the country gets the bill of course.”
rhombus, you know it’s coming. Gov. Moonbeam will totally wreck what’s left of an economy in California and what he will do to the state budget is unthinkable...but he will go to DC with California’s entire 40+ congressional delegation for a bailout. California is...wait for it....”to big to fail.”
This means victory for Meg. If she’s within 6-8 points, she’ll win due to the “just plain pissed-off at Sacto” factor.

I’m NOT looking forward to the next four years under Brown, but on the bright side it may just motivate my wife to move out of this hell hole.
My biggest hope here is that a Whitman surge will give Fiorina the boost she needs to top Boxer.
No offense to my old home state, but Moonbeam is the only Democrat in the country I’m actually rooting for. Call it tough-love. Some people need to hit bottom before the can see reality.
Besides, Meg doesn’t have the clout or the stones to save Cali. All she’ll do put a Republican face on the inevitable disaster (as Arnold has).
Go Moonbeam.
Go Meg! Prove the pundits wrong!!
“This is not a game for those of use living here.”
Yes I held my nose and voted for Whitman and yes I know it’s not a joke, those of us living here are going to end up paying ALOT in new taxes next year. The only question I have is where is the point where CA voters say “enough!”, I’m hoping that point is not too far off but I’m not optimistic.
Redistricting = 10 more Democrat seats if Brown wins = we DO pay the price for a Brown victory.
Do NOT desire a Brown victory.
I’m sorry but I want to strangle people who have such a blase attitude about electing Democrat liberals hell-bent on destroying freedom and prosperity.
WTH are you thinking!?!?
Do you realize your attitude is the Marxist attitude towards events? Would you mind being one of the out-of-work victims of a community hitting bottom? There’s nothing ‘tough-love’ about it, it’s cheering on the greater evil.
Redistricting, the US budget and the future of our largest state are at stake.
