No. Both Scott Brown and Cristie led in their polls going into election day. Brown closed fast while Christie had small leads consistently for weeks.

Final RCP average showed Christie, he of the gigantic gonads, up 1. He won by 4.3%. However, Monmouth and Zogby both had Corzine up in their final polls.
If similar trends happen this year (i.e., GOP does 3 pts better on average than polls suggest) then it could turn out better than we think.
