The French are tougher than Obama: "Administration legitimizing Iran's 'right' to produce nuke fuel"

Teddy Roosevelt's foreign policy, which to a great degree established America as a world power, was famously summed up as "walk softly but carry a big stick."

Ronald Reagan's defense policy, which ultimately brought down the Soviet communist empire, was "Peace through Strength."

But with Barack Obama it's more like "make a lot of self-serving noise but carry a limp spaghetti noodle. And if necessary, offer them a big carrot stick to go with their pasta."

From the Wall Street Journal yesterday:

WASHINGTON—The Obama administration is pushing to revive a failed deal for Iran to send some of its nuclear stockpile overseas in exchange for assistance with peaceful nuclear technology, according to senior U.S. officials...

Washington and other Western capitals are hoping Tehran will return to the negotiating table...

The U.S. is accelerating its efforts to present Iran with a new offer as part of broader talks on Iran's nuclear program planned for Vienna next month...Such a meeting would mark the first direct negotiation between U.S. and Iranian officials on the nuclear issue in more than a year.

On Tuesday, Tehran began loading Russian-supplied fuel rods into the core of its Bushehr nuclear plant...

U.S. officials have been talking with allies about ways to expand the original fuel-swap deal to remove more of the stockpile, because Iran has been enriching more uranium since the previous talks broke down.

Obama is hoping, and believing, and talking, and negotiating about negotiating. And meanwhile, Iran is pressing full speed ahead with its nuclear ambitions.

For a number of years, in the face of leftwing European arrogance toward our country, Americans have made a sport out of mocking French weakness. But Obama is now making even the French look resolute by way of comparison.

From the same Wall Street Journal article:

One idea the U.S. raised would send some of the stockpile overseas for eventual use in the Bushehr plant. But France rejected that idea because it risked legitimizing Iran's right to produce nuclear fuel, which the United Nations Security Council has opposed, spurring the sanctions. "We have to keep a focus on whether we're going to increase or diminish the pressure on Iran," said a European official briefed on the discussions.

Obama is even making the U.N. look tough, comparatively-speaking.

In any case, it all means absolutely nothing anyway. Obama is still negotiating about negotiations, and will likely be doing so until Iran is fully equipped to level Tel Aviv, or Washington, or New York City. Again, from the article:

Iranian officials on Tuesday said there hasn't been any agreement yet on a formal agenda for the talks. "Discussions are under way about the date of the negotiations, the venue and content of the negotiations," Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast told reporters in Tehran.

And so, while Barack Obama dithers with empty talk and vain hopes based on nothing, the nuclear threat from the crazies who run Iran continues to grow.

And it isn't as if Iran is the only threat. The world is full of hungry tyrants of every sort, who feast on weaklings like Obama, and whose power grows exponentially when America is in a degraded leadership position.

Thousands of liberty-starved Iranians have already died under the Islamo-fascist regime now in power in Tehran. And Obama barely made a peep. God only knows how many more innocents around the world will pay the price with their lives because of him. And how many of those may end up being Americans, Europeans, and Israelis.

Legacy AND epitaph.

The question is, will it also be the epitaph of millions, and perhaps of liberty itself?
