We didn't see this coming. In a week where John Cougar Mellencamp expresses admiration for Gov. Palin and Karl "Tokyo" Rove kicked her to the curb, comes this gem:
Associated Press Television Writer Frazier Moore serves up a glowing piece about Gov. Palin's upcoming series, Sarah Palin's Alaska, set to debut Nov. 14th on Discovery Channel.
His opening line:
Whatever you may think of Sarah Palin, the fact remains Alaska is magnificent with her as its presenter.
He goes on to recount several memorable scenes from the first eight episodes wherein Palin shows off her state, her charm, her outdoorsmanship, and her family. We learn that Todd even gets in a few understandable digs at Joe McGinniss, their erstwhile neighbor.
The much-anticipated documentary series, shot last summer, is based at Palin's lakeside home in Wasilla. There, cupcakes are baked and kids do their chores (or hear about it from Palin). Then Palin sets off, with family members in tow, on a jaunt such as salmon fishing on Big River Lake, where, almost within reach at the shoreline, a family of bears keeps them amused.
"Girls, when you cast, don't aim toward the bear," Palin cautions daughter Piper and niece McKinley in their boat.
"Why?" is the automatic comeback. Any parent will instantly relate.
We've seen many of these clips from the recently released trailer. But seeing its impact on someone we might imagine to have a different view of Palin than us is remarkable. Moore seems genuinely enchanted by Palin and her family. He even seems to think this series shows her in a new, perhaps more relatable light -- without the politics that so many people find divisive.
Granted, earlier on the show, Palin seizes on one irresistible metaphor to make a political point. Referring to the fence built by "Todd and his buddies" to separate the Palin homestead from McGinniss' gaze, she suggests it's something "others can look at and say, 'This is what we need to do to secure our nation's border.'"
((((PING))))
Reminds me of my son’s family up in AK. In fact, the grandson got his first mountain goat last month.
Please fill me in! I've been too busy "getting out the vote" to hear what "has been" singers are saying. I guess I just ignore them because they usually talk like idiots.
When and where can we tune in?
Nov. 14th on Discovery Channel.
Rove makes it clear that the Good Ol’ Boys club will not under any circumstances support Palin. We will have to throw them all OUT to get a real conservative elected. He is truly “Tokyo Rove”.
Moore is praising the production and Alaska, not Sarah.

My Lawn sign is ready.
Interesting. When I first heard the Palins were filming a “reality show”, I thought it was a bad idea. Now that I understand the show better, I will have to give Sarah Palin more credit for her political instincts.
That was the BS media early on bashing it and using anonymous sources to claim that they were going to follow her kids around like a real reality show, although some of her kids are shown in it, it’s more of them traveling along for the outdoor adventures....... It will make the media trying to characterize Sarah’s family as crazy and nuts dll the more difficult, not that they will ever stop trying, bit to those middle of the road folks who are not into politics much will see a different side of Palin that’s not narrated by the MSM
Ronald Reagan was also a television presenter . . and he went on to become the most successful president of the modern era.
Dear Mr Rove please join the democratic party...
I see people making their own Sarah Palin signs!!
