UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - New York City's bedbug epidemic has spread to yet another landmark in the city that never sleeps -- the United Nations, officials at the world organization said on Wednesday.
The pests appeared at places like the Empire State Building and Bloomingdale's before reaching the city's center of international diplomacy on the East Side of Manhattan.
The U.N. press office said a bedbug-sniffing dog had confirmed the presence of bedbugs in furniture in the basement of the Dag Hammarskjold Library, where the offices of the team overseeing the U.N. headquarter's $1.9 billion renovation project are housed.

Ha! Don’t let the bed bugs bite.
No!
Let them!
Let them!
How can they tell the difference between the bloodsucking bedbugs and the bloodsucking UN diplomats?
Somewhere in Heaven the late Charles Lichtenstein is laughing his fanny off :)
“Parasites invading the parasites.”
how do you tell the difference between the two ???
Open borders-open plagues!
There wouldn’t be a cobra epidemic anytime soon would there?
Yep the great unwashed.
I’d say the damn things came home to roost! What do you expect with a bunch of camel humpers?
Funny, I would have thought it would have been the other way around!
bed bugs just want a little blood. The UN isn’t happy until everyone has been sucked dry
Gotta love the irony of that: Chickens (or bedbugs) coming BACK HOME to roost. Only fair since we nearly had them whipped until our alleged “leaders” began allowing unrestricted immigration.
There goes the real estate value for when the current occupants are finally run out of this country.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving group although I am surprised the bedbugs didn’t show their fellow parasites some professional courtesy.
The UN has had the unpublicized bug problem for several years. Could the UN be the original source? Urban Reclamation Project anyone?....anyone??...eminent domain under KELO??
So much strife in this world and the UN spends $1,900,000,000 on renovation of their taj mahal.
I’ve thought they should have funigated the UN for many years......
For years, New York radio/TV commercials for mattresses have advertised a money back guarantee, I think for 90 days following delivery. I've often wondered what happens to the returned mattresses and how much the return privilege has contributed to the bedbug infestation.
Finally some good newa out of New York.
