Toilet paper going tubeless in push to reduce waste
AN American toiletries company is trialling tubeless toilet paper in an effort to make the world's most most relied upon bathroom product greener.
Manufacturer Kimberly-Clark will introduce Scott Naturals Tube-Free toilet paper at certain Walmart and Sam's Club stores throughout the Northeast of America., USA Today reported.
If the product, which will be rolled out in stores next Monday, is well-received by consumers, the company may sell it nationally and globally, according to the report.
The company has said the tissue will be just the same but will only be missing the cardboard tube typically inserted inside the roll. The new toilet paper rolls will still fit over bathroom spindles.
Nearly 17 billion toilet paper tubes are produced annually in the US alone, according to to Kimberly-Clark with most consumers throwing out used tubes.

The Kindergarten teacher at our school used them for the classroom gerbils to chew on. They created their own bedding.
Sheesh - can you use your imagination?
I use them to start fires (heat with woodstoves).
Tie a long string on one and give it to a puppy or kitten.
Tape 10 or 12 together and make a cannon.
Store extension cords (coiled up).
Seed starter pots for gardening.
Oh noes!!! Without the tube, how will we know which end to pull on? I mean, do you pull it out from the center like a kleenex from a box? If you pick up the roll and your hands are wet, the tissue will tear and stick to your fingers. Now everybody has to buy a roller! That’s not green! And that last little piece, you just don’t know where it’s been! You have to throw it out unused!
This is just horrible.
Wow, whatever happened to American ingenuity....
They make good firestarters, - I keep a bucket of them in the laundry room and stuff them with dryer lint.
And among the millions of pet hamsters and gerbils throughout the world there was a wailing and a gnashing of teeth.
Next up on the greenies wish list - reusable toilet paper.
It ain’t the eco green they’re worried about... it’s the ___
Gerbil container?
“Just chuck it into the recycle bin. Problem solved with minimal R&D costs. How many carbon credits did that earn me?”
I’m no fan of greenies, but if a change works, I won’t reject it out of hand. My guess is that treating the inner portion is quicker, easier, and less costly than making the tubes. If you treat the inner 6 sheets, those likely wouldn’t be used by a consumer, but could go straight into the toilet. Only Sheryl Crowe would be upset by that.
Again, speculation on my part, but it seems 6 sheets in the crapper on the way to the poopie plant is more efficent in terms of recycling, than a roll in the recycle bin.
Pervert blocker.
Nothing worse than shoping late at night and stumbling across a pervert molesting the TP.
Most people do that with the toilet paper too, unless you appear on Hoarders.
You can bet the price to consumers will go up as their cost goes down.
If Al Gore gets his way we will all get one leaf a day to wipe our asses.
LOL ! For the tree hungers. If you don’t like cutting trees’, try wiping your ass with plastic.

Grow more corn.
It’s either that or bring back the Sears catalog.
Recycled toilet paper next on the list? Or ban it all together and insist that people do without.
Low volume food like dog food.
