Christine ODonnell, who, judging by the polls, is not long for this political world, did an interview with the Christian Broadcast Network in which she reflected on God (God is the reason that Im running), being a conservative woman (they wouldnt do the things that theyre doing if I werent a woman), and her time on the cable TV circuit circa the late nineties.
Its hard to say at this point whether Bill Mahers relentless mocking of Christine ODonnell has helped or hurt her. On the one hand she has been the subject of much not-so-nice criticism and the butt of many, many jokes. And, in her short time in the spotlight, has basically come to define the utter strangeness of this years midterms. On the other hand, she is now a nationally recognized name, and the polls have never indicated she ever had a shot at winning, so if she intends on following the Sarah Palin to its current conclusion shes actually rather amazingly set up for it.
Either way, heres how ODonnell explained her former TV life. On a related note, Im not convinced her former TV life (witchcraft and all) would have mattered all that much if shed been able to back up her current political life with some tenable policy chops. Maybe next time. From the CBN interview:
Im not someone who has always planned her life for when I run for office one day obviously or I wouldnt have said all those things on TV. In the 90s I looked at all the TV opportunities as a ministry opportunity, as an opportunity to share my new found faith with a television audience that otherwise would not be watching when I would go on Politically Incorrect.
If I were planning to run for office in 10-15 years I would have been much more guarded not that I regret anything Ive said but because Im a vocal person I state my opinion when I think that somethings wrong or right I speak up."
Compared to Coons - she is an Angel!

Well, we’re not judging by the “polls”. We’ll judge by the election results.
But nice try anyway.

What a dope. I see he got in the obligatory Palin crack. 11/2 is gonna be fun as these fools twist in the breeze.
She is going to win.
There have been no Delaware polls for two weeks now.
A lot can happen, in two weeks.
Did see however, this interesting story:
http://www.examiner.com/elections-2010-in-wilmington/pete-dupont-endorses-christine-o-donnell
“Pete DuPont Endorses Christine O’Donnell”
Then boy were you ever naive.
Yes, actually I have hope for her to beat Coons...
ATTAGIRL!..ER I MEAN SENATOR.
Yeah I agree. When you’ve got someone like Coons headlining your ticket you’ve got major problems. Tough to imagine the dim base being very fired up in DE.
Absolutely. When you are hand picked by a liberal comedian to be the token “lets all laugh at the silly Conservative” for their comedy/political show - You should take a long hard look at yourself and attempt to see why you were picked. It was NOT to be a credible and eloquent spokesman for the Conservative/Christian position.
She was either very very naive, or she didn't care.
Either way, very very troubling.
So troubling in fact, Senate-candidate O’Donnell,
(who’s on our side, most here seem need reminding...)
has five times as many Twitter followers as whats-his-name:
http://motherjones.com/mojo/2010/10/GOP-2010-social-media
http://www.marketingmag.com.au/news/view/us-voters-feel-negatively-about-negativity-2480
“Christine ODonnells two Im You ads, which countered vicious attacks on her, achieved extremely positive reactions, even among Democrats.”
If she accepted because she was unaware of the function she was to serve on the show, she is naive.
If she accepted despite what her function was to be on the show, that is even more troubling.
I think maybe you should stop helping democrats, until after the election.
Just saying.
She’s one of dem evil social conservatives, what are you trying to drill some sense into his head?
This might be a gloat thread after Nov. 2nd.
She’s the conservative candidate in that race. Leave her alone until the election is over, unless you actually want the bearded marxist Coons to win.
You don’t actually want Coons to win, do you? I’ve engaged you enough on a variety of topics here on FR that it’s actually a question in my mind. You’re invariably on the left of any given debate.
Her election would be the single greatest coup I would enjoy watching on election night (well, except for Harry Reid LOSING by fraud-proof 10% maybe)
Unfortunately there seem to be many brain dead in Delaware who prefer to elect a smarmy teeny tiny cavelling pelosi-clone marxist
