Press Release STATEMENT OF JIM McKelvey:
I am quite frankly appalled at Tom Perriello's recent desperate attempts to split the Republican Party, and his vain attempt to get conservatives in the 5th District not to vote for Robert Hurt. Unlike what Tom Perriello would like us to believe in both his goofy mailers and ridiculous television ads, Jeff Clark is not the alternative, and Congressman Perriello is no conservative.
Robert Hurt and I may have had some differences in the past, but we are both focused on the same goal for our country's future.
In the latest mailers from the Democrat Party of Virginia that I and other conservatives have gotten in our mailboxes in recent days,
Tom Perriello uses my name (and a prior press release of mine) as the "factual" basis to falsely state that Robert would do away with 400 teacher jobs, cut funds for college scholarships, increase personal property taxes, allow unsafe products to come into our country from overseas, or somehow send jobs overseas to China. This is a blatant lie on Perriello's part. These false statements clearly show that Congressman Perriello will do anything to get elected, and that he is willing to stoop so low as to lie to his fellow citizens, because he wrongly believes that such lies will win him the election. Mr. Perriello has shown here in the last days of this important election that he completely lacks the honesty, character, and integrity required to lead us here in the 5th District. The only candidate who possesses the honesty, character and integrity to lead us as our next congressman is Robert Hurt.
Because of Mr. Perriello's repeated falsehoods, and misuse of my name as "justification" to assert them, I am consulting with legal counsel, and I am seriously considering making a formal complaint against Mr. Perriello for his distortions and potential violations of Federal Election Laws to the Federal Election Commission.
The political tide has turned; people are now awake and engaged. Robert Hurt will listen, the people will make certain of that. Tom Perriello, on the other hand, has proved himself to be nothing more but a typical politician, promising different audiences different things. Yet, despite all of his "town hall meetings," it is clear that He ONLY listens to his liberal bosses in Washington, DC.
It is people in politics like Perriello that have placed us in the awful situation that we are in now. Tom Perriello is nothing more than a liberal puppet, with Nancy Pelosi pulling the strings. That is why we need to unite to vote him out of office next week. I ask all conservatives, moderates, and independents to join with me to work hard to send a clear message to Washington that we will not stand for the "politics as usual" that the dishonest Tom Perriello represents.
And quite frankly, Congressman Perriello is making every effort to pull the wool over our eyes by trying to convince people Clark is a serious candidate really working to win a congressional seat. That is just not true. Clark has said from the beginning that he would rather have Perriello in office for two more years than Hurt. What disturbs me the most is the fact that Jeff Clark is allowing himself to be used as a pawn for the liberal left, and has done nothing to refute Tom Perriello's efforts on his behalf. Mr. Clark, that's not being a true conservative, to allow yourself to be used in such a way.
And, Mr. Perriello has such a lack of confidence in his own campaign, because he knows that he cannot win this election on his own merits and voting record, that he is now pinning his hopes for victory on the misguided belief that he can pull conservative votes away from Robert Hurt by running such dishonest ads. But let me be absolutely clear here, a vote for Jeff Clark is nothing short of a vote for Tom Perriello, Nancy Pelosi and Barack Obama. And, it is also clear that Tom Perriello wrongly believes that we conservatives might be so easily swayed by his lame attempt at dividing the Republican Party and the Tea Party, from our united effort to defeat Tom Perriello, and to send the liberals in Washington the message that "enough is enough." Jeff Clark and Tom Perriello have the same goal, and that is to defeat Robert Hurt. There is apparently no end to the deceit of Tom Perriello, and no end to the aims of Jeff Clark to further his own agenda at the expense of liberty and freedom.
It is time to "Take Our County Back" from politicians like Perriello, Pelosi, and Obama. We can start "tying Perriello's hands so he will stop stealing from us" on November 2nd when we vote for Robert Hurt. Our country is depending on us here in the 5th District.
Yours in liberty,
Jim McKelvey
P.S.- Tom, Hope you started reading the "help wanted section" in the newspaper; there's not that many jobs listed in there, but you would know that, since it's you and your liberal friends in DC who have created this mess that prevents small businesses from hiring! I'll be more than happy to help you pack; I got a bus with plenty of room and a full tank of gas that's ready to go to Washington to help move you out.
Finally, somebody said “I’m not going to take this sittig down”. About time.
I hope the VA newspapers and local news outlets DO report this. Anybody think this story will get any traction?
The blogs are on it and Feda Morton has also issued a similar statement. One is anticipated from Mike McPadden.
Hurt was the one to beat during the primary, and they went after him with a vengeance. Perriello is using that to his advantage in the 11th hour.
