Their own criteria demands NRA oppose Reid
Gun Rights Examiner ^ | October 25, 2010 | David Codrea

NRA-ILA head Chris Cox attempted a curious evasion when Tom Gresham asked him if the Political Victory Fund had given Harry Reid almost $5,000 for his reelection. Replied Cox:

We gave zero to his general election…we did support him for some primary events…

The fact remains—they gave Reid $4,950 for the 2010 election cycle. It’s not like the incumbent senator had a strong Democrat primary challenger who stood a chance of unseating him. And it’s not like unspent money isn’t rolled forward.

Curious that Cox is backing away from the guy his boss called "a true champion of the Second Amendment"—it was almost an “I know Him not” moment, and with the same motivation. But what an example of Beltwayspeak by a skilled practitioner!

“Johnny, did you eat that cookie?”

“Not exactly...”

It makes me not want to take anything the guy says at face value. Still, let’s try.

“Had Enough? Vote Freedom First!” he advises in his latest “Political Report.”

In the same issue of Reifleman, the NRA endorsed in Colorado:

For House of Reps:

John Salazar (the even more lib brother of Ken Salazar)

Betsey Markey - screeching harridan of the left.

AND did not endorse Tancredo for Governor (no endorsement for that race)

the NRA has been infiltrated!! My family has supported them for many generations, not any more. Supposedly,Reid secured 61 million dollars for a shooting range in Clark County,Las Vegas. Somebody’s pockets are lined. After the NRA backed the “Disclose Act” it pissed me off royal. They should not lay down on any amendment. We dropped membership.

There is another class of gun owner who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs, and the hardships of the gun owner before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs, partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the gun owner to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.

Paraphrase of a 1904 quote by Booker T. Washington applied to the NRA

If the NRA was true to its stated goals it would put itself out of business.

I read his autobiography, too - good book and true to this day. Made me barf when the Rifleman ran pictures of Cox, LaPierre and Reid all smiles and practically french kissing each other. Reid is a treasonous snake and so are 90%+ of the other RATs given NRA endorsements in 2010.

This is the fruit of a RAT tactic had grown out of the ‘God, Guns and Guts’ conference RATs held after the 2000 election when they realized Americans saw them as atheistic, anti-American fascists and they decided they needed a fig leaf to hide behind. So, they haven't pushed anti-2A agendas like they did in the 90’s and they mouth ecumenical prayers and say religious sounding, but meaningless, crap. They can even sign onto bills or vote for those that are essentially small potatoes in the war on 2A rights. Example: Reid pulling strings to get a range built in his home state and then doing his damnedest to put anti-2A Justices on the SCOTUS. In that way the snakes garner a track record of being pro-2A even though their real support sucks and they wouldn't lift a finger in a real fight (in fact, most of them would put your head in a noose before they'd repeal most of the gun laws or the ‘68 GCA). In short, this is a ploy and the NRA has done a grave disservice to gun owning and/or freedom loving Americans everywhere. Sorry, Wayne and Chris, gun rights begin and end in liberty - you can't separate them into discrete issues. The RAT party is anti-American and everyone of the names you support will stab gun owners in the back with the bayonets of fascism.

You blew it and have done America wrong - man up and do the right thing.

I’ve been with the NRA for many years. Got a call from them tonight seeking funds, I hung up.
